FYI: Automatic Transmission Not Changing Gears Correctly

    Adz_79 I do it in a Zed

Further to SSAAMMEERR's post regarding the connection issues he had to his ECU, he also informed me that he was having issues with this Auto.

Symptoms were only changing gear when backing off the throttle, POWER mode kicking in randomly and overdrive changing up and down randomly.

After doing a diagnostic using the full version of ConZult, the auto ECU was not responding at all. Lucky for him, I had a spare in my car (from my transmission woes) and swapped them over. ConZult was then communicating perfectly to the Auto ECU. Sam let me know yesterday that after taking the car for a drive, the gearbox is now changing smoothly and a lot more responsive that it has ever been. I did not do I manual diagnostic on the ECU beforehand, but have come across similar issues with mine when I first got the black zed. I could get the auto ECU into manual diagnostic mode with all clear codes, but wouldn't talk to Conzult. After replacing the auto ECU, all symptoms were rectified and could talk to ConZult. This was before my catastrophic failure on my trip over which was mechanical based.

So this is just a FYI for anyone having auto gearbox issues and getting all clear from the auto ECU on manual diagnostics. Best to check it with ConZult first before looking at the mechanical side of the box.

Well my turn has arrived with Auto issues...

Took it for a drive tonight and all was good. Nice and responsive. After about 15mins of driving, (enough time for box to warm up - I have an external cooler), I gave it some and it all went down hill from there.

The car now won't change past second. Putting the lever in 2 from D has absolutely no effect.

Does anyone on the Central Coast have consult? I would like to do a check before I start doing anything else.

Previous to this, no issues with box. Has been working like clock work. The bands were fine when checked about 5yrs ago. But this is a w/end car. So since then it has only done 10,000Ks. I don't see it being wear and tear on box.

Will check fluid level tomorrow when cold. No puddle on the garage floor. LOL.

    Any ideas?

    Peter
