don't quote search to me :)....

Any ways one that has stumped me for a while, I sorta just been living with it but I want to try sort it now.

    The Story goes,

Once upon a time, I was cruising to a work function at the seven seas bar, restaurant in Mt Lawley, arriving in style to find prime parking out the front.

I went in to enjoy a nice sampler dish & a imported beer, while discussing business functionality.

A few hours went by, heated debates & the likes, we finished with a feeling of achievement.

I thought this was a great day, why not drive home in style, so I spent time taking the roof off while grabbing the attention of the diners eating out the front.

The sexy sleek Z lines stimulated the crowd with awe, as I slipped out of the car park shark like, with the nimbleness of a cheetah hunting its pray.

    blah balh enough of that.

Any way. When i left and hit boost the car acted funny it jerked and felt like it wasn't firing properly, turns out my alternator died and there went enough amps to provide sufficient spark.

One stage it go so bad the car stalled, I called mate to give me a jump to charge my battery up. we then attempted to get the car back to my mates in hillarys, it was dusk by this stage, I was driving down the free way, and she cut out again, we spent 20 mins charging it and went again, this time driving with no lights. ha.

We had to do this about 5 times before i finally got there.

Now ever since I replaced the ALT, I don't seem to have proper cold start, like yes the revs go up but then they come back down slowly as per normal and it just keeps going back down and slowly chokes, I have to assist with my foot, varying the throttle, even if i keep the throttle open constant it will die down and choke, even if i stab it to the floor, but when you back off the gas on throttle close it picks back up ? lol, then will drop and choke again.

I have rebuilt all IDLE related valves, even got another one from another car and tried that, still the same issue, cleaned throttle bodies yatta ya boost leaks blah balh u name it.

Bloody weird one... any one have any ideas.

checked your neutral switch recently that effects idle.. it does sounds like a faulty aac valve tho. if thats clogged or the solenoid is lazy your revs wont be stable as it controlls cold start

It could be something as simple as a vacuum leak...

Hmmm, might be unrelated to the alternator problem. Could it be timing belt related?

    Doubt timing belt...

But could be base idle setting/timing set to low. I don't know Scottie, sell the thing

This problem on brothers Sonata ended up being broken tensioner. Different car but just a possibility.

I had a fluttering blow-off valve that caused a similar idle problem. When I increased the spring tension the idle problem cleared.
