Well, I was coming back from lunch at the Brisbane Hotel yesterday and as I got onto the Graham Farmer freeway heading south, I noticed quite a strong fuel smell. I pulled over just past the exit to belmont racecourse, opened my bonnet then quickly rushed to shut off the engine as a fuel hose had sprung an ENORMOUS leak and was spraying the battery and engine with a substantial amount of fuel!!! I managed to get my dad to pick me up and take me to repco and get a new length of hose, so was not out of action for too long but it gave me a bloody great scare!! The hose that broke appeared very soft, even though it was brand new and marked as EFI hose. The nick in the line was right near the fuel filter on the line between the filter and the regulator. Good thing I had the sense to stop otherwise I could have been a whole world of pain right now. Cheers Rob
A very lucky escape! Mine rubs a bit on my strut brace and I'm paranoid of this happening, after your episode I think I will re route it!
It was replaced only recently by Tom (PZP). Can't really fault him as it was certainly brand new hose. It broke just after the clamp point, so looks more like the fuel filter neck/clamp point where it pushed against to eventually break. Cheers Rob
