No it's still run through a relay - if the car is switched off it doesn't get power. Though I take it Dean was reffering to bypassing FPCU so full voltage is always supplied to the pump.
Oh - I'm with you now - he meant "direct from the battery" and not "direct" from the battery - haha I see your guard rolling sign - will P.M. you
Wrong Rob but running Walbros flat out so do I count? It's good for tuning and engine safety, not good for pump life. I will eventually fit a fuel cooler on the return line.
Even if it was direct from that battery - as long as its correctly wired with a fuse and relay no problems.
Haha no problems there Rob! Walbro's is that two your running, surely not two 400's? Do you have any problems with rising temps more so on lower levels of fuel? Any idea in regards to still retaining that FPCU so it's not running flat out and if the pump will accept it - I know the Bosch pumps don't like any less than 12v.
Problem I had was running to an eighth of a tank in 35 degree heat My main pump is huge and runs variable with electronic reg Shouldnt have a prob running flat out from main tank
Thanks Rob - how huge we talking? I'm planning on getting the Walbro 400L/h which is E85 compatible as well just as my one and only pump. Any idea if Walbro pump is happy to run with the OEM FPCU 7v/13v?
I'm running two 255lph pumps -don't jibe what the part number is. Big single is a good option in places. Re problems -I had a pump die recently that really wasn't that old. I'm sure the heat was a factor. I asked mark about fitting a controller (the ECU could run it quite easily) but he wasn't keen, neither was Ben. Both said from a tuning point of view less complexity is better. I don't notice any issues with the way it runs, no.
I'm running the walbro E85 flatout to surge and back. but big pump is over 650l/h and runs variable . no idea about the walbro an FPCU ,not knowledgable on electrical stuff .
Ah k yes that would definitely need to be variable - and no issues with fuel temps with the Walbro 400 at full speed? Looks like by-pass the FPCU and don't look back.
temps good . usually just over 30 ,but can reach 40 on a hot day. but again very low tank and idling in traffic it will get hotter (as engine isn't using fuel so over 95% gets circulated .) I'm still going to put a cooler in .........eventually
Thanks Rob I think if Ambient is around 30* then 40* fuel temps aren't all that bad. Will just keep it in mind not to run it down low. Yeh that's why I'd like to try keep the FPCU - I mean there's not too many times or places you can let rip on full boost :br:
i have dual 255 walbros and they do NOT like being driven with low voltage. In my car it resulted in very strange sounds from the pumps and funky fuelpressure.
Talk about timing! Just got a call from MRC picking up my Walbro 416L/H E85 pump tomorrow. There advice was to bypass and run it at full voltage. I'll just keep it in mind to not run the tank as low as I currently do.
Twin feed mad cow, so long as done properly is fine. It solves and possible fuel starvation to cyl / injector 6 when in series. In the end though it doesn't necisarily offer any heat or power benifits that I can noticeably identify. Also zed boy very curious to see how your car goes as last I checked your set up is similar to mine
Yeh I'll still like to do the twin feed eventually, have a spare set of rails in the garage for it just no time at the moment. Haha Andrew... place your bets! Not chasing any number at all 330-340 would be nice and very safe any more is a bonus. Have Tomei adjustable exh cam gears so I will loose maybe 10kw up top as a guess for earlier spool down low.
