I posted this on the Aus300zx facebook page also.

Having more fuel pump issues unfortunately.. heres a recent photo.
    - can someone explain to me why all this wiring looks like balls and is falling to bits?
    - sometimes the car primes (even without that black (ground im guessing) wire attatched) and then I can wiggle the harness the contact which doesnt have a wire attatched will spark on the edges and the fuel pump usually shuts off.

it also gets extremely hot and keeps desoldering the wire whenever I attach it

PS. Dont break down in Hungry Jacks after getting your food, the road is really slippery from all the grease and you may or may not fall over

    Check the black wire!

The first thing to do is disconnect that black wire, it obviously isn't an earth.
Check that black wire, is it a black wire with a purple tracer?

Yes it has a purple tracer, in the FSM it doesn't detail this section anywhere that I could find

Check whether that black wire with the purple tracer connects to pin #104 on the ECU.
    Is there an orange wire?
    Is there a white wire?
