Your fuel injectors are now 50% larger than what your ECU is programmed for. Yes you need a tune

You need to redo your maps

Specifcially your K constant needs to be adjusted

If you can do that at home - yes
    if not - no

I highly recommend member "Toshi". Unfortunately, he's based in Sydney. Might be worth contacting him though and see if you can work out something with him. Who knows, you might be able to make him fly over there if you get to organise a group tune...

Yep. Don't really NEED a custom tune for injector upgrade anyway IMHO.

Well I'd check out the ECU to see whether it has been socketed or not. If it hasn't then you'll have to get it done (tv repair places or similar can do it) or if you're good with a soldering iron DIY.

Then I'd try to find someone on aus300zx with a chip burner and get them to burn a stock map modified for your injectors.

Alternatively, get nistune installed and have a custom tune done for your car. Nistune lists tuners by state who can do it and then you just have to find someone you like.

Ah, just realised that. Jumped in too quickly, didn't realise it was just an injector upgrade. My bad...

I'm wondering why the 555s were fitted in the first place?

If it's an otherwise standard motor then the easiest and cheapest option may be to refit standard injectors...

I'd hazard a guess based on the previous posts that the OP would require someone else to do that, and I can't see labour for that being less that fitting a socket + chip to an otherwise unmodified ECU.

Up to you but I wouldn't bother. Modifying the ECU to suit is not a big thing and if you ever want more power you'll be in a better position to do it with larger injectors.

I don't know how much a socketed ECU is worth so you may be right.

A custom tune can turn into big $$ to supply and tune a new ECU. Changing injectors can be labour intensive I know but I would think the sale of 555's would offset that a little. Moot point however if a socketed ECU can be done for a couple of hundred $$.

Need I point out that more power means bigger turbos means engine pull? Removing plenum to change injectors pales in comparison :p

Socketing shouldn't cost more than $100 and to be honest thats probably high.

No doubt a custom tune can turn into an expensive affair but just not required for injector modification.

Nope. You needn't point that out. :p

    Uh, cool?

Ermmm.. its not that easy to answer M8.

Firstly, if your engine is stock, AND you going to leave it stock, then your big injectors are functionally useless to you UNLESS you spring for ecu upgrades and it might be better and easier to flog yours and buy a set of stockers.

"IF" you have plans of running extra boost then unless you are going to go beyond, say 12psi then those bigger injectors are still largely useless altho a modded ECU and a tune may be very beneficial for safety.

If you are planning to run a bar+ of boost with some bigger turbos and sujpporting mods then your injectors are just right BUT youll still need a chipped AND tuned ECU.

However, whatever way you go, with those larger injectors, its going to cost you a bit.

Basically, injectors are replaced with larger because its actually NEEDED. There is a reasonable amount of headroom built into the stock injector size. Seems Nissan knew something when 275's would have sufficed!!!!
