    hi all,

Had the fuel gauge in my car, never caused me problems etc. Last week i replaced the fuel pump and pulled the unit out to replace. Since then, fuel gauge doesn't seem to be working. Drove 200km's today and needle hasn't moved - definitely not right!

Any ideas on what it could be or some tips as to what i should do?

So far i figure either the sensor (is there one?) in the tank is gone, or the arm which has the ballast may be stuck (is there a trick to this?).

any suggestions, ideas etc would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Jay

Probably the sender unit. Pull it out of the tank and check wiring connected ok, also check the potentiometer spring tension is sufficient to maintain contact with the board and float arm is moving freely.

    IB ?????

The float for the sender is probably caught on the edge of the plastic baffle in the tank from when you re-inserted the unit back into the tank.

Try filling the tank to get the float above the level of the baffle. The float should lift off the baffle and then miss the baffle when it drops as the tank empties.

If that doesn't work you'll need to take the unit out of the tank and re-insert making sure you miss the baffle.
