Hey Guys, decided to investigate my heavy fuel consumption and black exhaust tips today. First thing I did was check the O2 sensors with a multimeter. RHS was cycling fine at 2000rpm, ~0.3-0.7v, but LHS was constant 0.15v, and would not cycle under any conditions. Both had good 12v supply to heater.I also took the plug off the EFI water temp sensor to try and clean up the corrosion, put the plug back on, and my ECU diagnostic tells me I have a fauly water temp sensor (Code 13). Cleaned plug more, cleaned pins in sensor, pluged back together, and I still get code 13.I am currently browsing through search results, but have 2 questions.1. It looks pretty tricky to get to the LHS o2 sensor, I assume it can be done after removal of the battery, does anything else need to come off? Can it be done at all from underneath with the car on a hoist?2. What sort of resitance should the EFI water temp sensor have at various temps? It seems to change resistance fine, from about 300ohms when hot, to about 2000ohms when cold. I am thinking its probably the wiring plug though.thanks

to answer your first question, try searching

for 'O2 sensors removal' etc. there is heaps of methods. The best way is to remove the battery, get a crow bar and smash the top of the O2 sensor off and then just use a good LONG extention bar and socket to undo it.
    Good luck :p

I have just removed the engine and

one of the jobs I have to do is to replace the O2 sensors but looking at them they look awful difficult if you have to get them out with engine still in.:(
Probably breaking the top off is the way to go and then undo them with a socket or a ring spanner. If you have any WD40 whatever or a bit of diesel fuel it wouldnt be a bad idea to soak the bases overnight before you launch into them.:><
