If any of you remember, the other week I posted about the problems I had with a bad batch of fuel clogging up my fuel system, well the saga continues.....

After further inspection, the fuel hasn't caused as much damage as originally thought, but my car still has bugger all power through the 2000 - 3000rev range. The mechanic hooked up his laptop a couple of times, and every now and then gets an Auto Trans error (not sure of the code sorry), which indicates some sort of communication problem to the Auto Trans.

The twist is though, my car has been converted from auto to manual!

Has anyone come across this before and if so, can you shed some light on what is causing this and how to fix it?

    Many thanks in advance!

Re error code from auto trans

The wiring from the conversion hasn't been completely removed. There are quite a few extra wires for the auto trans so unless you are good with a wiring diagram, I'd just put up with it. I get that code once in a while but it has no effect on the car. BTW the code is most likely 54: signal circuit from A/T control to ECU

I've had that error as well....

my car is also an auto to manual convert. The error is generated because the AT controller (which sits next to the ecu in the passenger side footwell) is trying to communicate with the transmision but cant find it. I simply removed my AT controller. But whether its there or isnt, does not affect how the car runs. I would say your problems in the 2000-3000rpm are due to something else.

Have you checked your neutral switch??? depending on how well the conversion was done, your neutral switch may not be connected and affecting how the car runs. The monkeys that did my car in japan screwed up all the wiring. A non-functioning neutral switch will rob you of some power.

Any ideas what it might be then or is that just like asking 'how long is a piece of string'?

    never easy on a zed.....

I'm assuming your mechanic was using conzult??? while hooked up, I would check all the voltage readings of all the sensors it can test and then compare them to the normal settings found either on this forum or the zed manual. It could be something as simple as your TPS not being adjusted properly.....

Then its time to spend some quality time and clean all the electrical terminals in the engine bay....

and seriously, see if that neutral switch has been rewired correctly....

There is a tech day coming up on June 12th, come along so the boys can help you sort out your car if you havent fixed it by then...

    Cheers
