This is the first picture of the VE from Holden. Very nice looking wheel arch, huge!!!!.

Aparently the new commodore with have 3 different dash designs (not same dash with different fitments either), with some upper spec models looking ancanily like mers/VW.

BTW these pics below are not good quality. The dash (yes even the yucky coloured one) looks better on the mags (shows the details better and also has better quality).

From spy photos, the outside will look more like BMW's (3rd pic) with short front overhangs.

Holden will also have ESP (electronic stability) and a whole other host of safety features as standard in their vehicles.

Will have 17 inch on base model V6, 19-20 inch rims on SS and 20-21 on HSV.

Will be interested to see it in the metal, I will reserve judgement till then. Not sure your quite correct by stating 19-20" rims for the SS, and 21" on the HSV models is just ridiculous, imagine how that would ride on some of Australia's crappier roads. Still holding out for the Twin turbo model, although fuel prices may prove enough to negate the production of what was sure to be an interesting ride. Dash shots look decent, lets hope that Holden trully try and emulate VW and use the soft touch plastics and thought out ergonmics. And yeah those wheel arches are insane.

that last pic from the back looks like a ford but the side on shot has a beamer look 21" rims as stock sounds a bit much esp for holden but wait n see hey still not a zed tho :D

I quite like the look of that white one in the last pic. Although the interior shots look very very....dull. Almost like the interior in the 1 tonne ford ute which is a 90 model or something.

Apparently V8's will come out with 19's stock and 20's as an option. HSV's will have 20's stock with 21's option. I actually questioned the Holden insider (in another forum) about this. Judging some pictures this inside info does seem correct. Heres some fo the pictures taken by ADRENALINE from ultimatecarpage.com, clearly shows a 19 inch rim and 245/40R Potenza boots (on normal V8 Holden’s - im guessing SS).

Heres a better pic of the dash and interior from ADRENALINE.

The tail light also look nice along with the paint quality (a bit dusty), which used to be a big problem with previous Holden’s. From the pics the paint should be comparable to some euro makes.

They sure are, they would need at least 20inch to make them look full. Some of the 17 inch rims look very very very undersized. Hopefully this thing can accommodate 275 tires and upward (like our zeds :)).

    ah another commodore,
just looks like the same old deal, a large heavy family car, id know my old man has a SS and its like driving a freight train. The new one looks massive, big bulky. well i guess if you want 2 spend 55k + on a commodore go ahead, u will still get beaten by a 16year old zed that costs less than 1/3 of the price.
Commodores are family cars, i dont understand y they are making all these SPORT models. the best holden is the old school monara, small and a big donk under the bonnet

Mate, I can promise you that the Holden engineers didn't even ponder the Z32 when they penned this new generation commodore...they are two different beasts, why try and compare them? To say that the performance of a 3.0 twin turbocharged sport car, albeit a 16 yo one, is better than a five door sedan is daft (at best) and at worst out and out incorrect. Think about the initial purchase price of your machine, close to 80g's...factor in inflation and you wouldn't get much change from 100k, now we are comparing a sports car which is close to double the price of this machine you are mocking.

Next up consider the performance, you claim that your Z will beat a VE SS commodore. Perhaps, but i'm willing to bet in a old school drag race against a clock, the far majority of stock Zeds will come off second best remembering the weight difference isn't that great. So your quick to retort- what about modifying the Zed, well then I am willing to place my car on the fact that a worked Holden commodore will trash a worked Zed every time. The suspension geometry isn't designed for drag launches. How many Zeds you know can run 9's or below...they are few and far between.

So next time, before you run your mouth, consider the fact that for the average family man or woman, owning a sporting sedan with a 6.0 litre V8 in the front is about as close as most can come to owning a practical sports car. And for those well endowed enough to own the real thing, there are certainly faster options available then the ageing Zed sitting in your garage. We are all proud of our Zeds, but there is simply no need to bad mouth the choices of others.

The other things that need to be considered is the holden V8 is a much bigger base motor, it does not take as much mods to get same or more power, weight is no different and although they drive like tanks which i find mainly due to ride height, they would absolutely demolish a zed, its not my style but to compare thetwo is ridiculous, they are completely different but if i needed a family car i would look to a v8 cos at least it has some guts may not be a zed but for a completely different market

    fair points

ok maybe i was a bit harshe, ok i ask this question do you think that a car like that is worth 80 to 100k?? thats my question, my old man has always bought new commodores and the last 2 of them have been back 2 the factory for major repairs.maybe im biased, they are a gr8 family car no ones doubting that

Guys like us can drive great looking performance cars. There are those burdened with a family, with a wife and three annoying kids. Sadly these guys cant shrink the kids and fit them into the zeds. The next best thing would be to buy a sedan with plenty of room but with loads of power........and with high mod potential.

yep thats what it is! its also more crap from GM. how much 60-70k no f-in way is it worth that amount. My bro has the latest vz 350v8 whatever, slow slow slow, handels like a damp sponge, and to top it off the wale chewes more juice than my Z.

and why would you want kids in a zed they have no respect (not there fault they dont know any better) for cars it would be scratched by school backpacks scuffed from there shoes drool and vomit everywhere probably more vomit the way i drive but why put the zed through that i would much rather see a commodore ruined than my zed

The last pic is sopose to be what the SS will look like..

From what i have seen and read so far it looks pretty good.. Wait till you see it with your own eyes.. get in one and drive it... Then you can say yes or no.. Alot of people do judge a book by its cover...

There is nothing wrong with the 6L LS2's...

I bet you 10 bucks i know of one that will rip you a new asshole anyway and has basic mods... pushing close to 400rwkws without even opening up the heads...

They are big and heavy becuase of the power the motors puts out.. A ford weighs more then what the holden does... Hell i want a VY SS yet i drive a zed... I like the feel of a family car the zed is more for cruising etc.. and as for them V8's drinking more then the zed that is a load of shit... They get kms to a tank of fuel then a zed would... Remember you are trying to put a "sports car" up against a "family car" just does not work...

One last thing just remember most of the design does come from opel... and it has been for years...
