    That's too lean IMHO.....

especially when you consider you're running stock injectors and intercoolers with 16psi

I prefer to see a bit of a safety margin myself, but hey it's not my motor

thats how it was tuned on the dyno to get a high readout ,,that motor at 16psi isnt going to last long imo

    thanx,

timing was normal (not retarded or advanced) - no pinging at all
    16psi boost
    pump 89 fuel
    daily driver average 150-200k daily
    daily have that power

    thanx again

just need intercooler, dumps & exhaust and see what happens then

    typo 98 fuel?

only time will tell, and i dont give it all the time, every now and then.

    and i trust Mark 100%.

    so not worried at all.

and just think if it does blow, it gives me another reason to spend more money on her e.g engine internals

    lol oops yeah 98

wouldn't every ones jaw dropped if it was 89, lol

    rollin First 9

i dont think you will have to worry about it blowin up mate.

A cold nite and a quick fang could change that pretty fast? Would that be enuf to change the a/f's to bring them below 12:1?

Would running this type of boost and setup be a bit dangerous on a hot day? Say a 30+ day?

    (genuine question)

Depends what ammount of margin has been left in the tune to allow for higher ambient temps.

Afr's around 12.5 are ideal for hp but not nesseceraly for engiine life. Alot of tuned engines detonate in higher ambient temps as there is not enough margin in the settings. Afr's at 11.5-12 would be much safer.

Those are great numbers for the mods, but there will be next to nothing left in it. Very rarely will a tuner leave no head room unless asked to. They alwys like to leave a bit of margin for varying conditions.

Will the engine go pop? depends on how it is treated in hot or cold weather. Just be aware that it is tuned to go as well as it can. I would say the tuner has done an excellent job given the results. But it may be little close to the edge when out of the comfort zone.

Cheers for the informative response, that's exactly what I was asking pretty much.

Yes I meant cold weather sending a/f's to 13 not below 12 :bash: Got it ass about

NISTune is as good as it gets

I use to have a UNIChip piggy back ECU fitted which gave a Dyno result of 272 rwhp. I then got MRC [Mark] to install a NISTune Type 2 ECU ,
    gave a result of 316.7 rwhp.[236.2 rwkw]
    Car Specs :
    1991 300ZX Z32 TT 2+2, 5 Speed Manual, Aztec Red.
2.5 inch Stainless steel cat back twin exhaust system
    Single K&N Pop air filter
    Standard T22-02 Twin Turbos
    Standard inter coolers
Manual boost controller set at 13 psi
2 Sequential type blow off valves
    Injectors standard OEM
    CATS standard OEM
    Wheels :Zepter ,235 x 40x 17 front. 255 x 40 x 17 rear.
With a UNIChip fitted you can only alter the timing & fuel maps.
Australian designed NISTune you can alter : Max rpm ,Top speed limiter ,
Inlet cam control actuation , Fuel maps , Timing maps , Knock Maps , ect.
Fitted & Dyno tuned , for less than $1000 [Grand] good value.
The car runs very smooth and responsive, has given a 29 miles per. imperial
gallon return on fuel consumption at cruising [running on mainly on 02 sensors]
Air fuel @ full throttle average is 12.1 [good result]
I find that the engine is not under any stress at 13psi boost.
I can recommend NISTune ECU system [ very good system value for money ]

can i ask ,, with this NIStune ecu , are you guy re-programing them or are you just putting them it , and voila there you go

surely it would be dyno tuned in realtime?

well that's right . so at the end of the day . if you have to re-programme then whats the difference .......

to say a flashed ROM on a socketed stock ECU?

with a remap once you make any changes to the car, in order to tune it again you'll have to take new readings and store it temporarily until you can turn the car off, take out the ECU and flash a new ROM of the new map to replace the old one.

with a nistune the daughterboard stores it and you never need to open the ECU again to retune it, it can all be done with consult plug and saved while the car is still running. great if you make changes often and want to tune it more often.

in terms of how good the tune is, that depends on how good the tuner is...

    Answer to question to NISTune

I have the NISTune software on my Laptop so I can plug the Laptop into the consult plug on the car which enables me to trouble shoot the parameters and running of the engine.[eg.injectors ,02.sensors ,RPM.,ign.timing ,temps ,ect.] the engine tuning is done in real time ,so I can alter and try settings before saving the settings to the ECU . The software also enables you to do timed test runs and monitor the tune. Since I dynoed the car I have not needed to alter any of MRC settings.
