    hey guys,

seems like my clutch booster is dead... i figure it is from the loud hissing noise from within the cabin...and the fact that my bite point keeps moving every time i use the clutch... (plz note new master and slave cylinder and new clutch)

Thing is only place i can find that has a clutch booster is COZ for about $500 :(

Anyone else have any suggestions on where i might be able to pick one up for cheaper or maybe even in Australia?

    Cheers guys.

    Hey Adam,

I think you'll have to come up one afternoon and I'll bleed your clutch line and adjust your pedal free of charge. Get that out of the way before you look at a new booster.

Send me an email and we'll have a look at it for you.

    Benny_C About as subtle as...

    Seconded.

A lot of people get misled thinking there can be master cylinder failure and booster failure because the hydraulics haven't been bled properly. it is quite tricky to get it right on a Zed. Sometimes you need to do a vacuum bleed process to ensure all air traps are gone.
    Great offer there Zrated. :zlove:

Hissing noise inside the cabin does not point to air in the hydraulic system but possibly as orginally suspected, a perished master cylinder booster diaphram.

You can isolate the problem by removing the vacuum hose at the engine balance pipe and see if the hissing disapears.

Courtesy Nissan has new boosters for about US$340 from memory.

You're spot on Karl however I doubt a troubled clutch booster would change the 'bite point' of the clutch as it would be air heating and expanding in the hydraulic system.

Courtesy Nissan, do seem to have pretty good prices, often better than Coz, but the shipping quotes they give are through the roof. So often after shipping is added Coz comes out on top anyway, at least in my experience, never actually bought anything off Courtesy so can't say for sure.

If it is your clutch booster, just remove it and start doing some weights with your left leg.:D

True mate, I was more focussed on the snake hissing around in the cabin :)

Boosters can be rebuilt. Call your local brake re-sleever they should have the parts. Should only cost around the $200 mark. You should notice your idle buggering around with a diaphragm leak as there is extra air in the intake.

has anyone sourced and replaced a diaphragm themselves? i want to give this one a shot myself, but i can't find any posts about anyone doing it.

most people seem to just buy a second hand one. don't really want to do that! :(
