After years of waiting, I finally got my AVS vs5 rims (bad gutter rash and on the cheap), sent them for refurbishment and picked them up today. They are 18x8.5 fronts and 18x9.5 rears, what tyre sizes are recommended for the front and rears? thanks
Awesome! I've got two sets wanting the same treatment, love the Z32 Z logo center caps, probably a bit hard to reproduce the original AVS logo & wording so brilliant alternative :zlove:
I was wondering, would a difference in wheel diameters for the front and rears have an impact on a) the speedo reading (accuracy) b) driving/handling characteristics? (since both wheels will be 18 inch but with differing widths and diameters) I was thinking of 235 fronts and 245 rears but not sure if it's doable.
speedo will only be affected by the rear tyres you need a 235/40/18 front and a 265/35/18 rear this is within the legal size limits, your speedo will read 100kmh when you are doing 102kmh. These sizes are close to the same diameter. handling will depend on track (offset) since you haven't posted offset I will assume they are both +38 this means the rear track will be 12.7mm wider than the front and will cause understeer. If the fronts are +25 and rear +38 then you will have an upgrade.
I second this(these are the exact sizes I am running on my Manual TT). Speedo displays 100kph when actual speed is 102kph(well within allowable variance in NSW).:zlove::br:
did you go the standard silver or a little bit darker.....really liking the final colour these are painted in......
Thanks for the info guys. Was of great help. Going to go 245/40/R18 Fronts and 255/35/R18 Rears. Jinxed - These are not in the original silver color. (the original color is very close to the silver colored Zs, meaning a metallic kind of silver) According to the refurbishment place I went to, this color is called shadow chrome.
Have the exact same rims im about to get refurbished aswell thinking of going black though. But i love your idea of the z logo is that painted on or a sticker or? Very nice!
