Well I finally bought a zed I have been patiently waiting for a 2+2 TT manual that was in good condition and in my price range. I bought it off Andrew from Shepparton (EnuffZ) and I could not have asked for a better seller He has answered all my annoying questions as I learn things about the car and its history. Due to the distance I am from Shepparton I used VIP Automotive Solutions to handle the inspection, handover and transport. But I ran into some issues with the car being too low to get on the truck Long story short it eventually was raised to 4x4 spec (coilovers) and ready to pick up in Brisbane. To say I was excited was an understatement. When we finally picked it up me and dad still had trouble with the front bar too low to the trailer ramps. We had to find a patch of grass on a side street to get the back of the trailer low enough to get the zed on (see picture) So after a lot of swearing in the blazing heat we had it on the trailer We unloaded it on the slope of the driveway at home, which worked a treat. So it was finally at home and safe in my shed :zlove: I?m really happy with it so far and I keep finding neat little extras which shows the car has been cared for and the attention to detail :zlove: So far I have fixed the immobilizer alarm locking solenoid actuator thing as it was only actuating sometimes. Just had to clean the commutator and brushes (carboned up) on the motor (pic) and lube the gears and pushrod thing. I?ve also fixed the rear panel illumination thing which turned out to be a loose wire connection Next up is a roadworthy, rego and insurance etc so I can drive it So I posted here to introduce myself and I have a few little questions also. It?s due for a service, which is fine as I was intending to do one anyway but? The 100k service was done 37000 km ago and 9 years? So should I do a full 100k service? or does time not affect the timing belt?s condition? or should I just change the timing belt (not the whole 100k)? or just do a normal service? Another question is whether changing the ride height effects toe in/out. I am able to get it exactly where it was (before raising) so I?m not too worried about wearing tyres. However, if I wanted to run higher/lower will I need an alignment? Future plans are to keep it tidy and well cared for (and a wash!). Considering an ecutalk to monitor the vitals etc. And I?m keen for cruises or something once it?s all ready to go. I am pretty handy and have a trade background in aircraft maintenance as well as an engineering degree (just finished). So I?m looking forward to working on and driving my new zed Sorry for the long story and the noob questions! Anyways? picture time! :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: On the trailer A few at home Actuator motor Rear panel :zlove: Matt
mine was done 10 years ago at 82000 km now 107ish. definitely do the 100k, belts only last ~5 years. nice EL-panel and a nice s2 zed in general. welcome to the zed world!
Please look after that car.... That car literally came to Aus on the same boat as my old NA, back in 2001. And they both went through a lot together being complianced at the same place. Its been a while since Ive seen Andrews car (well, old car now) in person, but at least up until a few years ago, it was in immaculate condition and a real beautiful car. I hope it still is. Look after it Cheers
Congratulations on your purchase and on joining the Zed world ... .. And a big plus for one of the best introductory "newbie" threads on this Forum.
Thank you all! Interesting to know the history Jedi I'll deffinatly be looking after it :zlove: Also I think I'll do the full 100k service just for peace of mind
Welcome. Changing the ride height will alter the toe. Raising it then dropping it to the previous aligned position is okay though.
Well Matt welcome too the world of the Zed's, nice buy and nice clean looking car. There are a few of us crazy people in Brisbane who own these wicked cars, so don't be afraid too ask questions as 99% of the people on here are good folks. Hopefully we'll get another meet and greet or tech day happening and you can bring your pride and joy along.
Welcome to our insanity Hope you have a lot of years with the car of your dreams. Just remember when those dreams turn to nightmares, stand back take a long hard look at your baby and try to remember the way you feel right now :zlove: Andy
Thank you all for the warm welcomes and deffinatly no plans to sell! I'm going to set the ride height exactly back where it was (the guy counted the notches on the nut) :zlove:
I miss my old Baby Well you have been busy haven't you. Well done on the rear panel, they're worth a bit of $$$ & that one is an genuine one too. Tried fixing it once myself, worked for a weeks then stopped again. If you notice a high pitched noise coming from the rear cabin that's from the inverter & it's stopped working again. What I really want to know though, is what do you think driving her ??? Any of these yet :br: Believe me, you'll have no problems popping these in 2nd. Seriosly though I hope you enjoy her as much as I did & you will be amazed at the No of fantastic & genuine people you'll meet who have the same pasion as you. Cheers Andrew (ENuffZ) hmmm... might have to chance my nic to "Audi A4"
Nice Z Nice pick up, looks clean as a whistle, i was also in the hunt for a 2+2 manual TT Targa, this popped up after i bought mine from Japan, otherwise i would have considered it, hard to find on in the condition you have picked up. I get mine at the ed of the week after compliance, now only a roady and rego to go. cannot wait :zlove:
I'll keep an eye on the rear panel. Driving is simply amazing, like nothing I've ever driven No :br: so far as I'm taking it easy, as I learn the zed. I don't want be a stat lol. I can't wait for a cruise or tech day or similar Thinking about going to the feb downshift meet too. So if its not obvious... I'm over the moon with the zed :zlove: Cheers Matt
