Scroll to bottom for pics ;)

I have been looking at for sale threads on this forum for around a year, slowly saving money and waiting for the right car. I've also followed a few interesing rebuilds and such :zlove: The point of this thread is mainly to let yas know that I finally have a 300zx in Townsville :D

So.. You may have seen the advertisment in the for sale section by mrZzzed, for a '1990 300zx NA 5speed' Well I am the proud new owner. And whether you did or didn't i've taken and included heaps of new pics :D

It's a 2 seater, 1990 model with... now that I have driven it from Dubbo to Townsville, 97,500km on the odometer. Although I managed to get the zed home with little damage, only slightly worse scrapes/crack on front bar, I did get clocked doing 101 in a temporary 80 zone, and consequently will lose all of my 4 points... :( so I will be attempting for the second time to go 12 months on a 2 point license not being able to drive after 11pm... I've done it once already.. Hope I can do it again.

I found that the car was amazingly new looking on the inside with a few issues on the outside, although her paint is in great condition. Her Tommy Kaira rear wing has a long thin crack along the inside which I believe may be due to people lifting the boot by the wing.. And a few scrapes on the front bar including a crack on the left hand side... I am hoping to fix and possibly reinforce these, especially the front bar within a couple of weeks.

Also has a bit of an issue with the speedo registering zero km/hour during the first couple of minutes each day I drove her.. :( and also a couple of times for about five minutes either the low beam or high beams wouldn't turn on, but at least one always worked. oh and the original clock desn't work :( ... I have a mate who is a second year auto electrician apprentice who I hope will be able to help me solve these issues...

I ended up paying 6,500 for her and spending $300 on flights, around $300 on fuel, the speeding fine is $333... and am yet to get RWC or rego which runs out very soon. I'm not sure whether I got a good deal or not but tbh I am very happy so far so that's all that really matters. I saw the add on tuesday night (valentines), decided to buy/look at it on wednesday and flew to Dubbo and purchased it Thurday night... So it's been a bit of a roller coaster and it's still sinking in that the beautiful zed in my driveway is mine! :D :zlove:

    Pics:

I also have the original nose panel which i'll put in shortly, this one was made by previous owner out of PVC and is not the right colour

When the Momo stearing wheel was installed the cruise control was removed from the car... I'd really like to reinstall this if I can find the required bits and pieces.

    Trim:
I was thinking that I would buy cheap leather-like trim to replace the cloth, maybe white or red but the cloth actually looks really nice... :)

and Finally, these are on the left hand side of the driver's seat, I have tried fiddling with them and do not know what they do, the seat is electric... can anyone tell me? :S

So please tell me what you think, constructive criticism welcome, she's booked in for RWC on Thursday, along with my Corolla which may be close to sold already :D. Then hopefully will just need to do rego change to NSW, my name and renew rego and she'll be sweat to go! As I am 19 and comprehensive insurance would be about 1700 a year and i pay the first 1300 or so if I damage it  I only have Third party fire and theft... hahah which will be yet another reason to drive it very carefully (along with my 2 point license).

    Harry.

    nice car,
cruise control just needs a boss adaptor kit, then you can keep the aftermarket wheel.

looks like it's got some tommy kaira bits. congrats, your zed has one of the best wings ever made for the Z32.

also the knob on the seat is to adjust the side bolsters. if you can't feel them getting tighter either you're too thin or it's busted.

Very nice. Hope you've bugeted for a 100k service and plenum pull (and possibly a new front bar too :p )

Oh and by the looks of things, your car doesn't have cruise control as a factory option, so will probably take a fair bit of work to retrofit the oem setup.

I like your new Z man

Pros- good paint, rims and really like the rear wing

Cons- Front nose pannel and unmatching paint on the front bar.

First give the engine bay some good loving and $$$ then consider the asthetics.

Ahh oops, yeah when he said that I thought he just meant it wasn't useable since the buttons are on the wheel. But looking at the pods, it seems it was completely removed.

Congrats on the new Z! :zlove:

See the Tech Section for a detailed article on fixing a dead clock!
This isn't guaranteed to work though! - I've tried it twice! It worked for one but not the other! .........so 50/50 success rate for me so far!

Just as easy to buy a known working clock from someone wrecking a car! ;)

Very nice. As I said to the seller when it was on the market, I want that wing! If you ever want a change, PM me :)

    Beautiful car mate!
Your pretty much the same as me, just got my NA 5speed and selling my corolla :p
The lever on the side of ur seat kicks a little thing in your back for support and the spinning thing makes your seat hug you more or less (only just found mine a few days ago)
Also a really nice set up in the boot, im looking at doing something similar with the subs on the side but im putting my amps under a false floor in the boot :)
Enjoy mate! Dont crash it :p

    Congrats on buying your Zed.
We can see you are a proud owner. Thanks for the pics.
Where did you pick up the speeding ticket?
Keep an eye on the right foot. They tend to get carried away. :)
