Hey guys, im wondering if na running gear will be alright to run in a tt? converting it from auto to manual, my mate has the convertion set just sitting there. Will everything bolt straight up? or is the box a little different? Also i was reading that one guys using an na box in his race car and its held up, not to sure if thats true or not? Any help would be good guys!

    cheers :D

Manual gearbox, diff etc. will all be fine in a tt. Only thing is the bellhousings are slightly smaller so to run a tt clutch and flywheel you will need to shave a couple mm off the inside and space out the starter motor.

Thats awesome news! and because its of a two seater and mines 4 the only thing i need to replace is the tailshaft right? ok well il let the workshop know what needs to be done! gear and diff ratios will be a little different to im guessing?

You can use the front half of the manual shaft and rear half of your current shaft, or get a 1 piece shaft made up.

As for ratios the manual gearboxes are the same between na and tt, the diff's are different though with tt being 3.69:1 and na 4.08:1 so if you're swapping the rear end and diff too you will have greater acceleration at the expense of a a lower top speed and higher revving on the highway.

Also to get your speedo reading correctly you will need to change the speedo sensor cog in the gearbox to a tt cog if you are keeping the tt diff (cogs are different between manual and auto too). Otherwise the na box should already have an na cog in it so will be fine if you're also swapping to the na diff.

You sure about that? The tailshaft in mine is marked in white out pen (from a shop or something) and says man. tt on one half and auto na on the other.

You have to change the flanges over. I would just buy a new 1 piece.

You saying NA shaft has different flange to TT shaft ?

In the middle of the two piece. Or so I have been lead to believe. I have never tried to mix and match.

When you split the 2 halves of the tailshaft - you remove the big nut in the centre, and replace the flange on the new half - with the one off the old half - its also a good time to replace the centre bearing....
I've done it on mine - TT gearbox, with an NA flange on the end, to the rear half of an NA shaft to a NA rear end.
