I ONLY GOT MY ZED LAST WEEK AND HAVE BEEN PLAYING WITH HER AND THREW ON SOME NICE SHADOW CHROME WHEELS TODAY. BUT OVER THE LAST FEW DAYS I HAVE NOTICED THAT EVERY NOW AND AGAIN SHE IDLES TOO FAST? THE MECHANIC I ALWAYS USE FOR ALL MY TOYS TOOK ONE LOOK AT THE ENGINE AND SAID HE WOULDN'T KNOW WHERE TO START, GREAT HELP! ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS? MAYBE THIS IS A COMMON ZED THING? SHE IS A NA 91, OH AND HER NAME IS NATASHA!
Could be a few things 1) Engine will idle high when it is cold. 2) Engine will idle high when climatic air is on 3) May be caused by dirty throttle bodies as well. 4) Could be Throttle Position Sensor needs adjustment as well. Search the tech section as there is an article about erratic idle ....from memory. Good Luck Tim

My engine suffers the same symptoms. I have diagnosed a sticky AAC valve. If you have access to datascan, go into the active test section and open the AAC valve to 50, press start and the idle will come up to around 1700 RPM then click stop. The sudden release on mine brings the idle back to base where I set it of 800RPM but with the normal small increments used during normal running for A/C useage allows the valve to stick. There is a good tech article showing how to disassemble and recondition the valve.
THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE IT IS NOT WHEN THE A/C IS ON OR ANYTHING ELSE. IT JUST SEEMS TO HAPPEN OUT OF THE BLUE AND THEN IT WILL SETTLE BACK DOWN? I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO DATASCAN. I USUALLY LET MY MECHANIC DO ALL THE WORK ON MY CARS, BUT IT SEEMS THE ZEDS NEED A LITTLE MORE KNOWLEDGE THAN THE AVERAGE CAR? I WILL SORT IT OUT, HOPEFULLY? THANKS AGAIN GUYS!
I have exact same prob, usually when I start her up it will jump to 2,000 revs.. I thought it was normal... :| will check the tech.
