why 300zx tt has done this since when I got it, is that normal? as soon as I turn the key in the ignition the fan starts before the engine starts up? (key is in 2nd phase of turn)

Check that the e.c.u temperature sender ( 2 wire one ) has not had the wires come off it or has corroded terminals or is faulty first.

Have you checked whether the thermo/acc fan has had the relay mod? That is in the tech section.
You might find a switch in the engine bay (or under the dash) that turns it off.

    Seconded

Likely to be a dirty or corroded Coolant Temp Sensor.

+1 for dirty/corroded Coolant Temp Sensor or faulty unit.

Got stuck last week somewhere due to corroded coolant temp sensor connector.. Cleaned up the contacts on the spot but electric fan was always on..

Just installed a brand new Coolant temp sensor, and electric fan doesn't come on no more straight after starting.

Carcraze.com.au has them with fast shipping. Get a new bosch connector as well.

While your at it inspect PTU plug connectors mine were corroded as well.

    As a bonus.

His Z has likely been in safety boost the entire time he's owned it. :)

Assuming of course that someone has not done some dodgy wiring to the fan.
