Maybe we should just have an exhaust thread with all the exhaust related questions that pop up on here.
Anyway, I have a couple of holes in my exhaust pipe from the last joint (after the cats and resonator) and some 2.5 inch magnaflow mufflers from the group buy, would I get any benefit at all by keeping the stock resonator and getting 2.25 inch piping back from that (where exhaust is bolted after it) into the 2.5inch magnaflow mufflers, and more importantly, would i get any loss from this?
Car is a 4 seater NA.
Also reason I don't want to do full exhaust is im on a budget and will probably sell NA for TT eventually so dont want to spend too much, but wanna get rid of holes plus replace standard rear mufflers.
    Thanks in advance

what your doing there is effectively the back half of a cat back system, so yeah you should see a small gain.....nothing to write home about though, probly only a handfull of kw's.....

you WILL have a louder exhaust with the magnaflows, and if your keeping the factory h pipe then hopefull it wont be too loud.

2.25" piping versus 2.5" piping in the last bit of the exhaust shouldnt make any difference as the exhaust has already cooled and slowed enough by this point to stop it from being an issue.

So i got it done, doesn't sound overly loud idling, sounds great when the car is started, but the drone at 100kph is horrible, i go up to 120 and no drone at all :/ it seems to only sound different up to 3000rpm and then sound exactly the same as old exhaust lol.

depends on the mufflers etc used.

realisticly, the biggest restrictions on a standard exhaust are probably the test pipes and cats.
