    hey guys

I just got given a pair of stainless mufflers and 2 stainless resonators for my birthday from my girlfriend (god bless her!) all 2 1/2". What would be a fair price to have these installed? I.e. 2.5" stainless piping from the cat back, weld in resonators and mufflers, new hangers, no x-pipe - just completely separate systems. Was just quoted $400 without mandrel bends. Also, how neccessary are mandrel bends in a fairly stock zed only running a maximum of 14psi eventually?

Can anyone in Brisbane recommend a place that does good work at a reasonable price?

here's what I have so far (X2)(was pretty impressed with how much she paid - $350 all up, delivered from Victoria to Brisbane. they seem really well made too.

Mandrel bends are not essential but do make a difference in flow!

Not a bad price for a new system that they have given you to go from the cat back tho. M/Bends are a good idea in a Turbo Car, or any for that matter tho, always had em on my cars. Cost alittle more tho.

    just to clarify

the quote of $400 was using the components i already have, so pipework and installation.

Sounds a bit expensive to me. I paid about $700 for 2.5" mild steel with

mandrel bends and that included $460 worth of mufflers.

Of course it was too loud and droney and needed more work - but that's another story.

    hmm

do you stree / race drivers put 2 and a half from turbo back? or that recommended? Will 3" be better or is that too big?

    I thought so too

So you effectively paid $240 for the same job but in mild steel, however with mandrel bends. I think I might go get another quote.

    thanks

You have to remember there's a margin in the mufflers as well...

so you're not comparing apples to apples. The shop will do the install/pipework for less if theyre also making money on the other bits and pieces.

That's true, in my case there would have been mark-up on the

chrome tips for sure $60 x 4. More than the cost of each muffler  The cost I guess of a bit of bling

2.5" is ample upto about 700 horse power according to Greg Dupree!

Who by the way has tested both on a car of this power. Below that Exhaust speed/temp drops too much and results in power loss!

hope their definition of turbo back

is the same as ours is and not actually dump pipe back cos you'll still have a nasty restriction.
