Excessive tyre wear / Camber issue?

Hey guys :) As mentioned in a previous thread, I recently had the stock bushes on both of my front tension arms die. These were the original stock nissan ones with the goo/oil inside. I must have busted them both after a 'spirited drive' through the twisties.... So anyway, I replaced the tension arms with new bushings (after a few weeks that is...) but when I was under the car I noticed that the insides of both front tyres were completely chewed out :( The tyres are only 20,000kms old or so, and still plenty of rubber on the rest of them. I am not too upset about this waste of tyres, as I'm about to get some new wheels and rubber anyway (hurry up with my $900 Rudd) BUT I want to make sure that this won't happen again with my new tyres!!

Were the dead bushings the cause of this wear issue (neg camber?) Now I am not so sure, because there are still issues with my steering ever since. It pulls to both left and right very easily, following ridges and bumps in the road. (I wouldn't dare take my hands off the wheel ) Do I just need a wheel alignment when I get my new wheels, or will I need adjustable upper control arms or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Btw it is currently stock height and suspension (j-spec) with stock wheels if that makes a difference.

    Cheers, Tim :)

Adjustable upper control arms and adjustable camber arms will fix any tyre wear issues. :)

Do I really need them if the rest of my setup (including ride height) is stock though?

Any recommendations on good brands? Cheers. :)

Its not that I don't know this, I just wanted to make sure before rushing out and making an unnecessary purchase. I've heard that there is enough adjustment in the stock arms (1/2 degree?) for a car with stock ride height. Plus this was only a recent problem, which I thought may have been caused by the broken tension arm bushings, which I have now replaced.

My question was whether the busted tension arm bushings were the cause of the tyre wear issues, because then I'd just need to get the alignment done when I get my new wheels and tyres.

Also, I was wanting to know the reason for my steering pulling left and right  (with the camber of the road, ridges, bumps). Wondering if this is to do with my alignment being off (Haven't had it aligned since re-installing tension arms...) or if its to do with upper control arms, or my worn-ass tyres, or something else? Cheers guys :)

Could be alignment aswell that causes this, but if it's not and have stock control arms they don't have adjustment to correct this unfortunately.

You could get it checked during wheel alignment, but if you need new adjustable arms to correct this, you'll just have to put it back in to get re-alligned again. I suppose it's just up to which way you'd prefer to approach the issue. :)

Thanks mate :) I think for now I'll just get my wheel alignment checked when I go in to get my new wheels/tyres. If there's still a problem I will opt for some adjustable upper arms as suggested (but probably still stick with my stock tension arms which have new bushings) as Jedi suggested he'd do in his tyre wear thread :)

Hopefully the dead tension arm bushings were the cause of my excessive tyre wear and the alignment has been off since replacing them...

So to fix the tyre wear issue do most people get adjustable camber arms as well as adjustable upper control arms? Sorry for the noob questions... These UAS ones are looking quite tempting... ;)

Adjustable control arms are the main contender. This will fix most of the issues, the adjustable toe arms aren't quite as much of an issue but will still help somewhat.

At the end of the day you may have a scenario like this....

    Problem = 100%
Adjustable control arms fixes 80% of problem
Adjustable toe arms fixes remaining 20% of problem.

    ** just as an example**

So it depends on how much adjustment and control you want. I'm going both as my Zed's issues are more serious due to it being dropped on its nuts.

hey benny you heard or seen the white line adjustable camber kit, it sits on top of the strut from what i can see and has adjustments from there.

are these any good or must we buy upper control arms?

    IB ?????

Only good for McPherson strut cars, so no good for Z32.
