As I was driving the (yet) unregistered silver TT to the RTA yesterday I found it to be vey noisy from the back. Most of the noise was road nosie from the tyres, changing with the surface of the road. Is this normal ? I don't get any road noise from the back in the convertible. Do I have a problem with subframe bushes, could the tyres be that noisy, or does the hatch area act like an echo box ?
You could judt have a lose hatch thats were most of my noise came from. Maybe adjust the boot lock mechanisame like lower it or something so the rubber seals do a better job of sealing and mainly helping preven movment.
i have the same issue in my 2seater tt. especially when it rains i can hear the water spraying in the guards very loudly.
has the boot trim been tampered with? if so maybe the sound deadening behind them have been ripped out.... to minimise road noise, remove everything and deck it out with some sound deadening
The boot seals fine. The sound seems to come through the chassis. I does not look like the boot trim has been tampered with, but there is not much sound deadening material there.
Its def the tyres Stef Ive had others on there that were quiet :zlove: Btw loved ur little write up on the emmissons testing. Good to see eveything is progressing nicley. (can't wait for pics :zlove How are u finding the turbo power ? Rgrds Trev
If it's the tyres, I might stick them on the convertible and check them out that way. A few dynamats to cover the boot and wheel arches would probably not go astray either. Can't have road noise overpowering the exhaust noise. TT power works very well. A bit quicker than the Soarer, and much less effort.
