    Got mine...

    Hey Fleet,

Got mine yesterday and already installed them. They look very neat.

They have the Nissan writing on all of them bar the Speedo. Were they copied from the 2000 spec white gauges?

    Weird... :)

they were copied from the stock gauges then renumbered.

Unfortunately they cant have been copied from the 2000spec white gauges as the dash cluster is much more advanced then the 89 dash cluster. Here is a pic of the 2000spec cluster.

    Further improvements on Gauges...

After I installed the gauges and calibrated them again, I got thinking...

It was a nice job that you converted the Boost gauge and the Oil Pressure to PSI, they are more understandable now and after fiddling with the boost gauge, I actually got it to operate rather accurately when compared with the aftermarket one I have. And it's easier to read in white for some reason...

I think, another way to improve the gauges would be to add temperature numbers on the Water Temp gauge. I was thinking about it because when I drove my other car on the weekend, I noticed it has the temperature numbers on it's gauge and it can be handy to know the exact temp the engine is running, without having to buy an aftermarket gauge. The standard 300zx one is quite lame when you think about it. Especially for a performance car. It just has Cold and Hot. Doesn't even have dashes inbetween, like the Fuel gauge.

    I don't know...just a thought...wonder if it could be done...?

    Cheers
    Rob.

thats the problem with the stock temp gauge and why people get an aftermarket temp gauge. there IS only cold, warm and hot and no in between.

the rest of the gauges and LEDs have gone out today :)

    calibration

Speaking on the subject of calibrating them, how hard is? How do you do it?

the instructions detail the procedure, but basically you have to replace a resistor in the speedometer circuit.

    Trial and error...

Sometimes it's a bit of trial and error.

Personally, I found the best way is to install the gauges and leave the plastic cover off. Hook them up to your car. When you turn the key to ACC, the speedo needle should be on 0 exactly. If it's not, move it until it is.

Take the car for a drive and have a friend drive next to you in their own car. Agree on a speed, like say 70km/h and make sure they drive at that exact speed. If you're driving along side them, your speedo should be the same and if it's not, you can adjust on the fly. :)

You need some multi-tasking skills for that method though... ;)

    Cheers
    Rob.
