I have a US supplier for these Jason, min 10 purchase of 14805 or 14807. Freight is the killer as they weigh about 15lb. Can you weigh and measure the boxed one you have Jason? That way I can put it to my freight broker. Caz...
Cool, do they do breakups etc caz with a minimum total buy. Calling Evil Errection whats the postage weight on the ticket from when I sent yours I cant remember. Failing that I will get out the bath room scales
I just checked that Coll as another member asked about it. It is as I thought that 2.25 is the ID or inside diameter of the muffler inlet pipe. I just tried some 2.5 inch pipe I have laying around and it fits snug up to the mufflers and would slip over the muffler pipe nicely if its swaged slightly. I will take a pic later today to show you all what I mean. In Summary where its listed as 2.25 inch inlet thats inside diameter of the pipe and works well with our 2.5 OD (outside diameter) pipe available locally
I'm loving the 14861's. But, does having a 2.5" muffler defeat the purpose of getting the rest of the system 3"?
You having dual 3's for a street system yeah thats pretty big Vaughn. Check this link IS BIGGER BETTER?? I have both 2.5 and 3 inch for street and track respectively. I went 3 inch for the track as my car lives pretty much above 4000 rpm for 95% of the time so I wanted the least amount of backpressure at high RPM's, however the car feels flatter in the low rpm range compared to the 2.5 inch system. Its also a shitload louder too but that probably comes from the dual 4 inch carbon fibre cannons on the rear though. To answer the question though I think the differerence would be minor as the single pipe quickly transforms to dual 3 inch pipes inside the mufller and out the tips. So it would pose a small restriction but if that could be taken out somewhere else by using mandrel bends etc and straightening up the pipe directions a little all should be fine. I think you picked the most expensive ones in the catalogue
hmmm not alot of choice in 3" inlet I was after something with twin tips and 3" inlet but doesnt seem to be much available.
probably 2 x 14832 ,same as the dual 07's ,but they are single tips g/b doesnt really worry me, can u find out what you can get either of these types for jason ???
Hey guys my god these mufflers ARE THE BEST i love them and postage was $44 when you sent them to me Jason and that was registered post but I cant remember the postage weight!!! Edit: They Weigh 6Kgs out of the box if that helps Cheers Luke.
Only in the race series but then they are not dual tipped and they would be a bit Illegal for street use me thinks. listed 2.25 actually is a flush fit for our 2.5 inch piping due to one being ID and ours being measured OD.
Hi Caz It cost me $44 to send two to WA for Evil Errection Funny name I reversed it on aus post site and came up with a weight of 14kg for the two. So I would allow maybe 8 kgs or 17 pounds per muffler and we should be sweet. Cheers J
Most expensive? Typical. I choose them on looks, guess I have expensive tastes hehe. The reason I was gonna go the 3" was the GB on those dumps street to strip is looking into. I really want the full divorced dump pipes and they are only offered in 3". I guess I could always go from 3" dumps to 2" after. Because from what I've read, the dump size is the most important part as after that the gasses are flowing together? And I though size was much more important for NA's? Because we have the turbo restriction, which is much more than anything a pipe could influence?
Yeah backpressure is more important for NA's. I designed my 3 inch track exhaust to be as least restrictive as possible to have the least amount of backpressure possible at higher rpms. Some may disagree but I think it best for turbocharged cars to run the least restriction possible, however as per the above link exhaust velocity is very important also and Ithink thats why my car feels flatter below 4000 rpm over this it hauls big time and as it approaches 6500 it keeps pulling now compared to flattening out with the street exhaust at much after 5500. Horses for courses and depends on use really. A 3 inch divorced dump system with 3 inch cats then 2.5 inch exhaust will work okay or you could keep it 3 inch all the way to the rear mufflers but I fear you will lose some low end torque but probably wont notice. I only notice due to lap times.
the 14804s looks good too but i think 14807 would be best..... its a pitty that going bigger will get us busted on the road....because seriously when my cats went on a v8 soarer and it sounded like a beast, i didnt even care to give it a boot as its sound was really nice..... couldnt we go like 3 inch all the way with some type of switch that puts a plate though, restricting the exhaust system and hence lowering the sound just incase the boys in blue test out the decibals??? btw does anyone have 3" to cat and 2.5" cat back, is the sound satisfiying?
