Putting together the final pieces for my car and looking at moving the battery to the boot to make room for catch can and expansion tank under the bonnet. Other advantages include better weight distribution.

I am looking at a Border Racing kit including an enclosed alloy box so as the battery is well and truly out of the way. UAS can do a good deal on proper dry-cell batteries so no dangerous fumes or liquid acid, and the kit does come with the option of a breather tube for those who want to use a lead/acid battery.

The kit is coming straight from Border in Japan and if we buy in quantity we are looking at $2200 for five kits, or $440/kit. Add domestic post charges from Sydney which I can't see being more than $20. Aussie dolar is strong so this is definately a good time to be buying these.

    The kit includes
    • Lightweight alloy sealed box
    • 5.5m positive cable
    • 0.5m neagative cable
    • Positive and negative terminals already attached
    • 1.5m gas breather tube (not needed if using sealed battery)

I want to buy my pretty soon so this is for serious EOIs only. I would need all money upfront.

I will probably carry these at a later date in the FSBB section but not at this price.

is this a generic kit i take it? what about the issues with the positive terminal that goes directly 2 the starter? where i assume you will be ditching the spair tyre and mounting the battery box there ?

Not vehicle specific is that what you mean?

Kit includes 5.5m positive cable so you can run it to the engine bay and then do what you like from there. Most modern euro cars with battery in boot run to engine bay and then split for starter, jump start point, and fuses/relays/etc -no problems doing the same thing in a zed

Planning to mount in boot, tyre well would be ideal but with the box style kit you have the option of mounting in cabin (ie boot) while still being totally enclosed and secure. You can run leads either under car or under carpet and through firewall.

Don't have box so no pics :D

Mate, I have used the MOROSO sealed battery box in my rear hatch, it comes as a kit minus the cables and also has a breather. The box however is heavy duty plastic. Price is around $160-00, mightn't look as good as this one but it isn't the price neither. You will also need a firewall terminal so you don't have to pass teh cable through the firewall.

Another thing to think about is the material for the box. I was under the impression that they should be of a non conductive material...

But that is a mighty shinny battery box though  Sorry, I'm not tempted at the moment, this will be the first GB in about 12 months of yours I'm not in :p

Ah Ok, well at this stage planning to put it in the boot just behind the parcel tray. Cables will run under the carpet and then out through firewall.

Time Limit, Closing in Two Weeks 14/3

Much less of a reaction to these than I was expecting so I am going to make the cutoff date 14/3. If anyone is interested in buying please PM me by then, even if we don't get to the minimum buyers i may be able to go ahead at this price.
