i'll be pulling the engine out sometime during the christmas/new year period to repair a massive split panel inside the wheel well (about half a metre long). i got the engine removal write up from the tech section but would also appreciate any pointers from people that have done it before. what problems you ran into, how you got around it, what tools (how big of a hammer) they used, etc. cheers tom ps it's a 91 tt 5 speed
Can't this repair be accessed from under the front guard?? Removing the Inner Guard Skirts would be way easier than pulling the engine. Where is this split??
Re: Can't this repair be accessed from under the front guard?? goes from about 10 cm front of the brake line mounting for the entire length of the well. it can be done welded from under the front guard but the problem is fuel lines and all the other crap on the other side of the panel that would be exposed to extreme heat and then there is the matter of painting. under the gueard is covered with tar so that side is not a problem but it would leave exposed metal on the other side.
