Out of sheer curiosity, how does the ecutalk cope with ecu Piggybacks/nistune/etc?

ecu talk reads a stock ecu, or socketed ecu. if u have a piggy back it wont work.. eg if have a microtech or apexi power fc ecutalk or conzult will be useless to you !!!

Nistune and bikirom etc are piggybacks a just wired into stock Nissan ecru. I presume it works with these then? Or am I asking silly questions? :p

nistune isnt a piggy back its a socket.. a piggy back is something you add to your stock ecu.. ei like wiring in a greddy Emanage. or a hitech interceptor.

you can only read a ecu that has a chip in it not something that is being intecepted

    Ah okay.

Thanks mate -my apologies for my ignorance of the terms, not terribly wise when it comes to ECUs. So by this reasoning the ecutalk does work with nistune but not piggybacks :)

    Thanks mate :)

yes. ecutalk only works with stock ecu. if you add a piggy-back ecu, or have a different stand alone ecu in there, ecutalk won't work.

so if you have stock ecu it will work. if you have stock ecu with a chip, it will work. if you have stock ecu + nistune chip, it will still work.

piggyback is normally a term used for something that isnt a complete replacement?. i.e. you retain the stock ECU, but have signals intercepted etc. in this case, it will still work, but the readings given will be what the ECU is seeing, not what the actual readings for. since whole point of intercepter like SAFC etc is to modify signal.

aftermarket ecu like haltech, powerfc, autronic, ems, etc it wont work at all.

daughterboard like nistune, or standard daughterboard should work. bikirom some people have said does/doesnt work, you'd have to ask the bikirom guy if it doesnt, why the hell not, and fix it now guy.

apparently some commercial tunes (i.e. remap/daughterboard) might mess with consult code, but ive never seen a confirmed case where consult doesnt work.

i'd invest in a bottle of WaterWetter after you have replaced/serviced the radiator, hoses and water pump...
