    Hi Forum,

Sorry for anyone who contacted me in the last 2 months about the Z.
I've had a lot going on to worry about selling the Z..

Good news is I finally finished with uni, and landed a contract in melbourne with a developer. so I'll most likely be keeping the Z.

what I need though, since I am keeping it. is some solid advice on who is the right shop to trust to rebuild the engine and box in my Z.

I have o/sized pistons so the block needs professional boring and building. and the heads would need some attention as well.
while it's all apart the turbo's would probably get a rebuild along with the gearbox and some upgrades will be included like fitting at least 500cc injectors but most likely keeping stock cams.

I'm not going to check back straight away,
but could I please get some advice about what shop/s I should look into around Melbourne,
what time frame I might be looking at not having my Z for while its getting rebuilt, and
roughly how much all this work should cost me if anyone has experience doing this with their own Z.

when it will all get done will be dependent on how much it will all cost.

Dude, try the yellow pages, then contact the engine builder yourself. Ask for references, or examples of their work. Ask about any jap import specific experience / builds.
If you want to take lead time and cost estimates from a forum (95% of whom have never employed people for such services), then you'll just get a rubbish answer.

So you want pricing on a "rebuilt" engine, turbo's & gearbox, plus 500cc injectors & "some unspecified upgrades".

    Go to:

    www.z1motorsports.com

Pick an engine that you like & they have lots to choose from, plus any "upgrades" you want, give them your credit card number & where you want it delivered.

When it gets delivered, organise a Tech Day & the local forum members will flock to the location to help you remove & replace the engine & gearbox.

    Sound unrealistic or too expensive?

The cost will probably work out similar to taking it to a reputable shop to have the work done.

I have checked this engine over visually.
It all looks good and has been sealed up so no crap gets inside. Even had an U.D pulley on it.
Doesn't even look as though it has been fired up since rebuild or if it has been it's done very little mileage.
    Pretty much a drop in.

    interesting...
I was keen to be running the bigger pistons though...

but, what sort of power would that engine be putting out ideally?

and just to be daft, we are talking about a completely fresh rebuilt engine that hasn't even been started since being put together?

Send Glenn (Raheen) a PM for details, but the engine was built by Niall (Rollin) at Philips Automotive and he's been in the game for a long time. It's never been installed or started as far as I know, so would be cheaper than paying for all that work to be done yourself.

You could drive to Queensland, get Rollin to fit the Rollin built engine, drive home.
