Hi all, and compliments for the new year.

Got the block back last week and all looks good. Rebored to 87.5, and crankshaft polished and within specs.
Need to buy the internals now. Was looking at this: CZP 300ZX Engine Rebuild Kit A-1 w/ Cometic Head Gaskets

Any opinions, or suggestions for a better priced or complete kit?

    Cheers

Kit will save you a few bucks....

over individual purchase prices, but do you really need eagle rods & cometic head gaskets ? Oem rods are forged and Nissan head gaskets are plenty good enough for moderate horsepower.

I would forego them and put the money into Arp bolts and a 100k kit instead of just the timing belt. Plus, you'll find money will evaporate quickly as you need to get other "bits & pieces" along the way so try not to buy stuff just because it's fashionable

It does save money to buy as a kit, and Coz's kit peices are pretty good. Whether you want new rods for piece of mind or whether you need them is up to you. I guess you will need new oversize pistons seeing as the bores have been taken out to 87.5mm.

My new motor was recently built pretty much the same way as yours, block was taken out to 87.5mm. However, when my original motor was rebuilt by the previous owner in 2004 he used the original stock rods, new OEM 87.5mm pistons and a new oil pump - they were all still OK so I didn't need that hardware.

I purchased Coz's complete engine gasket kit with Cometics, as well as ARP head studs, mains studs, and rod bolts, all from Coz. New piston rings, bearings, valves and valve springs were all sourced locally.

I would have definitely have purchased one of Coz's complete rebuild packages if I hadn't been able to re-use my rods, pistons and oil pump.

I have also selected this kit for my engine rebuild.

It seems pretty bang for buck.
It states its good for up to 800 horses I think stock internals are good for 600 hores but basicly my plan is to have it with this kit to suport 800 horses and run something like 500 through it that way it should technicaly be reliable as far as the bottom end goes.

    Rebored to 87.5

You should have brought the pistons first, then the shop could have measured the piston sizes, and bored accordingly.

Off-topic but, you're in Gaborone - Botswana? Many 300zx's there?

ARP stuff is only needed for a serious competition engine. Thats a big expense that most people dont need.

Stick with getting good quality essentials.

Well, after i melted No.5 piston there was damage to the cylinder wall. There was no way to find out if 87.5 will clear the damage, and honestly i did not think about it. I guess i can always buy 88mm and rebore again.

Yep thats right. And not many ZX's here. In fact very few running. Getting parts is very difficult and dealer prices are insane.

Plus timing pulleys and gear for front of engine if they havnt been replaced lately.

What ever is this kit but not in the rebuild kit.

Injector O-rings assuming you get them serviced:

I put this link because coz on has 2 per injector rather then 3 dont know why.

That all I can think of right now.
