I pulled my engine out myself, and had the internals done by an engineer. Ill see what happens in the end but it looks like a bright future. Ill know the results in two to three weeks. Wish me luck!
I know it's possible, but highly unlikely that you'll end up with anything better than what u started with.
I dunno, I would have thought he'd still > get a lot of compression back, compared to an old tired engine... Take a 10 year old engine, go get fresh parts, rebuild and replace engine, I'd think it'd be close to as good as new =)
A set of gaskets, rings and bearings ...>> would consume most of $1k.I assume that there would just be a hone and a very basic head service. Wouldn't leave much change for the engineer.Good luck.
the pistons are one of the main things I'd look at. If it's only ever been on stock boost they may be ok, but even then u'd have to get them crack tested, they are not the strongest pistons I've seen in an engine. But, yes as a light freshen up, i'm sure there'll be benefits, but to pull a Zed engine and just do that would make me cry. There are always other problems and failures you don't account for
If you want a set of genuine Nissan rings I have a std set sitting here doing nothing. I think I paid something in the vicinity of $240 but I'd be prepared to part with them for $100 including postage, if you're interested.
