Engine Rattle/knock

    If you have 60psi oil pressure at idle, I would suspect the noise you can hear is the oil pump relief valve

    Tensioner and timing is all good, we definitely think its in the topend so we will pull the cam covers and do a bit more digging

    Righto, ive got movement in 3 of the exhaust cam lifters on passenger side. Not sure if ill just pull them and clean them then put it bacm together and run it to confirm thats the failure or..... i might just pull it out and pull it down now for a full inspection and a freshen up and putnit in the corner for a rainy day.

    I can push them down a good 3-4mm and they are very soft compared to the ones that are pumped up. I always thought these lifters were self bleeding on these motors. Im sure on rebuild they would have been cleaned and reassembled/filled

    Yep full teardown, started pylling the cam and once i got the vtc gear cover off lobely shiny oil started flowing out, and i mean heavily metalled up. Oh well, lucky i dont need this any time soon....push it in the corner
