I need some Engine mounts but dont want to pay LOTS of money. I almost bought some of the Noltec Mounts but common sense got the better of me.

After searching the forum for alternatives I saw that Tektrader was doing something with Jag mounts and someone else mentioned VL Commodore Mounts with a spacer.

Considering the VL mounts are $45 for a pair I took a hunch and bought some. Has anyone else had any experience with alternate engine mounts ?

Karl has VL Commodore mounts, I can't remember what he did. Might have just spaced them up a bit.

Yep, shoot Karl a PM. He made them out of VL mounts with some minor mods.
    Very strong mounts too.
They're actually in my Zed now.

any idea what punishment VL commodore mounts can take? Do the high powered boosted VLT's still use stock mounts?

    Another alternative

Ford F150 mounts. do a thread search there was a post a while back about it and he used f150 mounts and only had to drill the holes out to half inch. were only about $30 each or something from memory.
    Hope this helps, Andy

Neither can I now, that's why I had to get new OEM when Benny confiscated mine otherwise I would have made two new sets, one for you :(

For the record, minivan has a set of my modded VL mounts too.

You could see if your local auto accessories can get Boonma engine mounts, they used to list 300ZX engine mounts for $100.

This is good info to know guys. I don't think many people are aware of this.

    Thanks IB & Tekky. :)

I purchased a set of engine mounts from UAS, they are similar to a shackle bush arrangement, with blue coloured bushing material.
I was a little concerned about engine noise & vibration, however didn't notice a great deal of difference.
An advantage with installing these mounts is the engine remains rigid, therefore you won't require one of those hydraulic cylinders that they mount from the engine to the suspension tower to minimise the torque twist, if that were a concern.
