I just ordered a pair of Electronic exhaust cutouts trying to decide weather to put them before or after my cats and also wondering if it will effect my tune? hears some pics:

Awesome. Make sure that you keep your original exhaust for when you get a yellow sticker.

    Will these even fit?

Re tuning why not set it up so that they open at a pre determined rpm? Your new ecu should be able to do it...

There will be no change if the valve is closed, with it open thou it frees up more power :) and will sound loud thats what i wont.
i like the idea of having a screamer pipe with a flip of a switch.
4yr warranty on the product, small hide able switch that closes it back to legal in like 2 seconds

that could be done to love that idea rob.

ive wondered about these things, when they are closed, wouldn't it create one huge restriction in the exhaust due to turbulance?

They will be considered illegal if the valve is open or closed. Nice idea though.

In that second pic, I'd think you'd be right, you'd want to design it so the butterflys are flush with the wall of the primary exhaust pipe.

if I were in your shoes I would put them after the cat. Dont want some smart ass looking under and stinging you the same if you were bypassing/hollowed out cats. Fines are insane for not running a cat, makes it too easy for them if you put it before.

I would get them tuned closed as you would be running with them closed most of the time. Tune wouldnt be changed massive amounts.

Tbh I never seen these things before. Could you run them with some of those turbos in the exhaust so you run outta puff with the first set, them at certain rpm the valves flick over spooling the second set lower down in the exhaust? Just thinking out aloud.

It'd be a complete waste of time putting them after the cats, if you're going to do it you want the short section as close to the dumps as you can get it.

Yes, stupendously loud and not in a good way.

this aint a screamer pipe. a screamer pipe will come off the wastegate pipe off the turbo.. not the actuall whole exhaust system... this will just sound like shit

if you want it to sound awsome you need to open the wastegate pipe up only. leave the exhaust pipe continous...

i dont see the point of it aswell, as when u open the flap there will still be exhaust gasses going out of the back exhaust aswell ...

this is how that setup pictured will sound like (complete ass): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsaOSbN9QhA&feature=related

this is how a screamer would sound like (horny): http://youtu.be/-Boi47Swrek

actually your right i thought they would sound the same. screamer is what i want
does any one know what size the wastgate pipe is on UAS split dumps i could get a smaller size and weld it on the side of my split dumps and run a third pipe off that just to under the fire wall. would that work or would it still sound like an open exhaust not a screamer

Go to gaol dont pass go

Hell why not just use dumps and rid the whole cats and all, its not like its gonna pass rego anyway is it?

you'll find it pretty hard to get the screamer to work well unless you remove the engine and work on it. problem is you need to completly seal off the exhaust chamber from the wastegate chamber off the turbo. the shitty seperators in most split dumps these days no where near seal those chambers from each other (like they are intended to do so)... so best chance you will have at this would be to remove the engine, make a perfect block for the back of the turbo and mate it up with the dump all completly sealing off each chamber from each other.

with this done the wastegate pipe is open, while the exhaust pipe is continous. cruising along you should have no exhaust gasses leaking out the wastegate pipe (otherwise it will just sound shit like exhaust leak) then when you plant it only will you get that screamer noise.

the easiest way people do it is external gate...

my dumps i have on my car are split dumps with an adaptable section in the wastegate pipe, so i can remove etc and use as a screamer pipe. but unfortunalty i have exactly what i talked about before (not being able to completly seperate each chamber off completly from each other)... so when i take off that adaptable section there are exhaust gasses still leaking into that wastegate pipe giving you that shit exhaust leak sound. but my god when i floor it and boost hits its a crazzyyyy sound 2 turbos screaming off their titts. so ye to get it working properly i would have to take the engine out, and make up a specific block to sit in the back of the turbo thats going to completly seal each chamber to its specific dump pipe section... more work than its worth so i have never taken the engine out yet...

refer to this pic, this was my design before i executed the project.
