Electrical gremlin

    With a not fully charged battery the alernator should be charging near on 14v. As has been said, alternator is the most likely culprit. Have it changed out before you start experiencing other issues. Any competent mechanic or auto electrician should be able to do this .

    So, the charge light on the dash panel was on?

    What charge light? Didn't know there was one? Oh... the battery light? No it never came on that night when I had all the trouble, actualy appart from at ignition I've never seen it come on?

    The light would normally illuminate if the alternator was to fail or not provide sufficient charge.

    sounds like the exact problem i have just had. ALTERNATOR = DEAD
    get a mulit meter start your car use multimeter see if its charging. Then turn on head lights and try again. My 300 had the same problem found out off my mechanic was alternator, $450.00 later no problem

    New alt installed

    you were all right. Couldn't get a genuine zed one so got a NEW maxima one fitted and wiring slightly moddified to fit. $630 later including labour. Well there goes my new interior.:mad:

    Got my old 1 rebuilt recently, sure it didnt come to near that :eek:

    Shoulda done it yourself and save $200, bit of a PITA having to drop the swaybar and all those stupid bolts in impossible spots.
