I hope the dude bought the right motor! The Netgain motors have 10deg advance on them from memory to make automotive use work better - a forklift motor is neutral as the forklift does a lot if reversing

11" is a decent size though, but only 1 motor? Netgain do a whole lot of cool stuff like backing plates to join motors together end on end, and even driveshaft yokes!

I think it's a great idea, not super practical but great anyway.

On a kind of related topic, in the static displays at the PI Historics this year someone had made an AWD electric race car with something like 1400Nm of torque, I was very disappointed not to see that thing running.

The motor technology is stunning, even using the motors for moderate braking to help recharge the batteries, but the problem is the fuel source, namely the batteries.

Hydrogen fuel cells (not hydrogen gas) are the most practical answer, as its a highly compressed hydrogen in liquid form, so you fill up your electric car like you would if you were pumping gas - no waiting for it to recharge for 12 hours. Some special highly magical process happens, and it can power the electric motor from the liquid hydrogen ...

I have an excellent idea. Lets glue a giant sail to the zed to save fuel when the wind is behind us. I love being clean and green, who needs dignity anyway, right? :D

Jay Leno believes the Hydrogen Fuel Cell will save the petrol car, and compares it to the saviour of horses

He believes we will park up our best petrol powered car, and only bring them out for special occasions, thereby caring for them better too.

I saw that a few years ago too, I think it's a great idea.

For getting from A to B use the cleanest, cheapest and most efficient form of transport you can, leave plenty of fuel and such for weekends and racing in your fun car.

I don't know about highly compressed hydrogen being practical. Its pretty unsafe and it takes a lot of energy to create it. IMO once fuel starts to run out only then would progress in battery technology be made and by guess who...
