What are these clutches like to use? Assuming they are fine for competition use, what are they like in traffic, both in take up and when they have to be slipped a bit. Shudder in reverse at all?

And how durable are they, how long do they last. Do you like yours or will you try something else when the present one is worn out? Thanks, this is not a survey, just trying to get an idea if one would suit my use.

I have not owned one, but driven a few cars with them.

The pedal feel is quite light, but short take up. Nicer to drive than most puck clutches. Didn't notice any issues with reverse. Quite rattly, but no worse than other twin plates.

    Can't comment on lifespan either.

I'm an OS G triple plate user. Not sure how the two compare. But it's drivable in traffic, just a pain in the ass.

I agree, they are driveable but you tend to avoid traffic areas with lots of traffic lights. It is soft to use but the down side is that it grabs like hell on the down shift and it is either on or off so there is very little slipping the clutch unless it is cold. I do get a bit of shudder as I am running a lightened flywheel and a NA subframe setup so she gets a bit twitchy off the line.

Would I re-install, probably not given that the car does see much track time. My preference would be a relaxed drive that isn't rattling everytime you pull up and have to engage the clutch. But then again .....who said driving a Z should be relaxed :)

i had one, drove it in peak hour traffic regularly (Not my preference, I felt like I was making it do something it was not designed to do), even after years of use on a cold start if I wasn't paying particular attention I could still stall it:)

It is definitely on or off. I am not reinstalling mine, going for something a bit more forgiving as I don't think my power levels or use justify it. of course I could change my mind in the future;)

    I salute your determination.

I occasionally bitch about mine and it has a Exedy Heavy Duty (Organic) clutch with a Standard Flywheel, 1-Piece Aluminum drive-shaft and AMS Lightened Pulley Set.

Interesting, Kind of makes me think of what my quad plate will be like.

The normal rattle and a smoother take off i am guessing ?
The Quad has its own flywheel. And i am then opting for a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft , as opposed to steel. Only because of weight.

But then being Quad plate, It may have even more rattle again than the norm....Yikes!

The noise they make is loud and sounds like nasty rattle in the engine!!

You do get used to them but I found I'd get a bit agitated after driving in traffic for a while - you find yourself avoiding it. Later I moved to a stiff single plate organic and it definitely increased the fun factor a bit driving vs the OS twin.

Bit the bullet, have an Exedy Hyper Twin on the way. With my powerZ an organic plate won't do. Single plate metallics are OK, not hard to get used to but I just feel that a twin will be better for what I do.

    Thanks all for your comments.
