congrats on winning the bid on rz1710 draco, great price too! (i dont think ive seen one go for less than $150)

now for serial sync and car charger, here's an example:
    serial sync + power socket
car charger compatible with power socket above

although if u see the compatibility page on the site, someone used a PSP car charger with that gomadic cable (cheaper than the gomadic power adaptor) and they didnt say they needed a null modem (but i guess ull find out when you test it)

thought id mention it, as im constantly asked about where to get consult interfaces from (and having to send people in a more expensive direction), ive spend time i didnt have to design a batch of serial consult interfaces, with the circuit inside the connector (all surface mount, and as the picture shows, no box or anything else, the circuit will be inside the grey serial connector).

price will be around $60, and hope to have them available towards the end of the month. ill create a group buy thread later once the manufacturing of the boards has started. limited usb/serial converters may also be available.

note for pocket pc setups, you will still require a null modem adaptor or a cable which already has rx/tx switched (like the one mentioned in last post - note the link for first item is messed up, should be this).

beta of v1.3.3 is posted if people want to help testing. its got the "auto reconnect" feature in for PDA users (ie turn car off then back on and ecutalk will reconnect itself, no need to touch anything) which ive tested and seems to work fine, eg pulling cable, turning pda off, then reconnecting and turning pda back on.

but main thing is i need the 3 new sensors tests - distance, fuel used L, trip economy L (and miles/MPG equivalents), cause im without a car for a while so cant test it myself.

(note: no serial cables as in above post are available anymore)

New features in beta3 below, along with a fix for distance sensor resetting after 6.6km.
#14 Add offset option timing so US users can get correct timing readings
#24 Derived sensors should select dependent sensors automatically
#26 Priority option for ECUTalk (eg so mp3 etc play fine)

Also minor change to delays in between commands, may help people who dont always get all sensors detected? Also minor change to consult reading for gauges, to reduce chances of corrupt data being accepted, eg you see all gauges flick to weird values for a second

Had a play with this today, and it looks good. A quick question though, does anyone know what the stock injector size (cc/min) for a 300zx is? Does this need to be set properly to obtain accurate figures for Economy & Trip L/100km?

    TT 370CC
    NA 330CC

    That sound right?????

Also had a chance to have a play with beta 2, all went without a hitch.
My only real choice of anything to complain about is the text value at the bottom of each gauge is very small and hard to read once you get a few gauges on the screen (PC version), and don't even take it as a complaint, more of a suggestion, otherwise I just sound plain ungrateful :D.
No crashes ofter 4 hours of use, no bugs to report.
    Well done

    Will try beta 3 tomorrow.

tt 370cc sounds right, nfi about NA

and yes they need to be set accurately otherwise fuel and economy readings wont be anywhere near close.

once youve set them to nominal value you can probably fine tune by comparing real fuel used to ecutalk gauge (assuming its been on the whole time) - you can edit the value in the .ini file if you want to get it spot on. (eg 359 might be your "real" flow rate).

but most people would use them more as a comparison...eg best speed for freeway driving, how much fuel u use when u thrash it, etc.

    ECUTalk v1.3.3 Beta 4 (2007-08-21 23:10:34)

I've uploaded the 4th and most likely final beta build of ECUTalk v1.3.3, beta4. I'm fairly sure all the functionality introduced in these betas now works as intended, though I haven't had much if any feedback from Imperial sensor (Mi/Gal/MPG etc) users. If there are no problems with this build, it will become final v1.3.3.

New features/fixed bugs in beta4 below:
#10 Put font size/scaling for gauges in options
#31 When value exceeds gauge maximum, the actual value should be on digital readout
#32 When you read fault codes without having connected to ecu, ecutalk exits
#33 Gauge colour preview doesnt update till you restart ECUTalk
#35 Save long term trip sensor statistics
#36 Clear trip statistics from sensors
#37 Option dropdown lists are editable on laptop/PC (shouldn't be)
#38 check for port open when reconnecting when gauges showing
#39 Put option in for data flush wait time
#41 If using L|T|R|B settings in the ini file, the gauges arent displayed properly if L is far from 0.

    Additional notes:
    1) For Flush Wait option, 100ms is default, lower values will give quicker startup times, but higher values might help with some connection problems, eg sensors not showing up, ECU part number not being read, gauges not moving when showing gauges, etc. Eg I can use 20ms on my desktop and 50ms on my 568 Jornada.
    2) For Font Base Size and Increment, this allows you to specify a font size, and then the amount of pixels which the font size will be incremeneted depending on gauge size. Eg 6pt + 50px increment on a 200px wide gauge = 10pt font.
    3) Also a minor fix to heading names in logs so distance/fuel used have units (KM/Mi,L/Gal)

Spent a lot of work on this one, got a lot of the niggling issues out of the way, the new trip meter sensors along with saving/reset ability should prove quite useful for those with pocket pc/car pc setup :) Any issues with it let me know.

    ECUTalk v1.3.3 - Changes from v1.3.3 beta4 below:

    • #42 Removed console output for few users who have a console setup on their PPC
    • #55 Trip meter sensors shouldn't keep 'counting' while car is turned off
    • #58 Prevent 'clicking' show gauges button with keyboard when gauges already shown
    • #69 PPC users can now utilise the 'working area' option and the LTRB option (ini setting)
    • #70 Changed default 100ms max refresh to 40ms (equivalent of 25fps)
Complete list of changes from v1.3.2 on the Version History page.

next version v1.3.4 will probably have the long awaited warnings, and probably last version that will work with ppc 2000/2002 (as .net compact framework 2.0 is for wm2003+ only)

    Any Updates?

    Hey NewKleer;

Just wondering if you're planning any more updates for the software?

Also, is it possible to get the interface serial cables from you anymore?

    Cheers
    Rob. :)

    Sticky...

    Ok cool.

Yeah, I'll be fiddling with the program as soon as my Pocket PC arrives. So I'll let you know how I go with it.

Thanks for the link for the cable. Great price. :)

Checked out your site and saw the new digital display. Nice work - very handy.

This thread should be made a sticky I think. More people need to know about this program. :)

    Cheers
    Rob.
