ECUTALK explanation please?

    i bought ECUTALK cable, and this the first time i connected it to my zed.
    the problem is, i don't know how to read it, so i'm not sure if my zed is normal or not.
    my car is 1990 300z auspec NA 2+2 auto transmission.
    can you please explain to me what i'm looking at and what "should" it has to be.
    when i started the program, it said "Code 55: No Errors Detected (0 starts)" on the "Fault" tab. so i guess that's good.

    I can say that your Throttle position sensor is out (0.4-0.5) and I think that your O2 sensors are dead. Anyone to confirm?

    02's won't do much at idle. Give the engine some revs and they should spring to life.

    Yeah TPS at idle should ideally be .44-.46

    Your O2 sensors should operate opposite to each other, but only when you stick the boot in.

    If they are working normally they will swing from low to high, and they should move across the same range as each other.

    Your Right hand O2 sensor is dead, or the cable to it is shorted to ground (it shows 0.0v)

    TPS is your throttle Position sensor. It should read 0.45v, but in reality it's hard to get that. 0.44 or 0.45 as already mentioned is normal. Yours is 0.32v.

    Your RPM should be between 850 and 900. Taking into account your TPS is low, when you adjust your TPS, you will probably get a jump in your idle RPM, which means you will need to adjust your Idle Air Adjust (IAA) on the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) to get the RPM back into the normal range.

    I would expect as your RPM in normal, and your TPS is low, if you can't get the IAA to lower the RPM, your mechanical timing will be out. The ECU thinks the timing is set to 15 degrees as you can see by the Timing BTDC (because you are in Park or Neutral), but that doesn't count for the mechanical adjustment.
    To adjust the mechanical timing, you need a timing light and you move your Camshaft Angle Sensor (CAS) slowly until the mechanical timing is set to 15 degrees (again at idle or in Park).
    BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE FAN WHILST MOVING THE CAS!!!!

    Your AAC is at 15 degrees which is fine. Your water temp is normal at 78 degrees.

    adjusted the TPS to 0.44,
    the idle is between 850-925 (and i didn't adjust the idle), so i guess it's normal now? right?
    but thhe O2 sensor V, when i give it a rev only jump around between 0.09 to 0.3, and the O2 sensor RH V only move from 0.00 to 0.02. i guess it's bad. is there anyway to fix/adjust it or it a "must replace" kind of stuff?

    Have you done an idle adjust? When you adjusted the TPS did you disconnect the TPS for a minute or so (or disconnect the battery for ~ 10 minutes) afterwards?
    If not, you should do that. This is required to reset the ECU self-learn that takes into account the TPS.

    875 is a little high. The book says:
    NA AT ~ 720
    NA MT ~ 650
    TT ~ 700

    Also, when you adjusted the idle, did you do it using the Base Idle Adjustment in ECUTalk? You also need to have a warm engine, no A/C on, no stereo on, no lights on etc (ie no other load).

    As for the O2 sensor, the only thing you can do is see if the cable/plug is ok. Follow the O2 sensor cable back to the plug, disconnect it and then ensure the connector pins are clean. If all good, you need to replace it. My personal opinon is if you replace one, replace both.

    The O2 sensors are used to ensure the correct Air/Fuel mix is applied. If you have a dead sensor, you will run rich.

    Base Idle Adjustment in ECUTalk.... where to find that?
    disconnected the battery for about 15minutes
    idle adjusted, now it's between 700-800.
    it's look like my O2 sensor one is "lazy" (only moving from 0.01 to 0.35)and the other one (RHS) is dead (some time only noving 0.00 to 0.03). am I right?

    Just do it this way:
    Warm the engine up completely then disconnect the throttle sensor connector (the one that is the dangling harness) that will put the AAC valve into base idle position then you can adjust the idle using the adjustment screw on the side of the AAC valve.

    You will need to change both O2's.

    idle adjustment done, thanks.
    how much roughly will it cost to replace both O2 sensors, parts+labour? i read the tech section, and i don't have the tools to do it, and also it's look like it's a hard work (lazy bugger :) )

    Allow $100 per O2 sensor + 30 mins a side for changing (Maybe more for an unfamiliar mechanic).

    Soak each O2 sensor each day for a few days with WD-40 or equivalent, to make removal easier.
