OK so basically I have been looking into the ECU and its internal components.

I can't find anything on the net, except datasheets for the individual components themselves.

So I have started my own drawings based on the circuits detailed in the FSM EF & EC and was going to post one today.

But to be honest I'm sick of getting poked fun at.

I would like to share my findings and post these diagrams. And ask everyone their opinion, validate their accuracy etc.

I'm not going to post again in this thread. I want to know.

    Am I wasting my time?

    sorry :p

Look I think a lot of the forum don't really understand what you're trying to achieve, but hey, don't let us stop you, for all we know where you're going to end up will end with a very big apology from a few of us

Post them up, you'll have the mickey taken but so be it. People who are willing to help, will answer you. Just teething pains mate. Ride the wave.

+1 for the effort! Good to see people going to this effort.. I pray its only a double sided board, more layers than that isn't fun at all!

Good luck! Look forward to the schematics.

I don't think any of us understand what he is trying to do :p

What's the point of reverse engineering the ECU?

Apparently the patent for the nissan ECU has some good info in it. I've never been bothered or had need to look for it.

Omg! I also admire your keen willingness to create something.....orrr... What ever it is your doing. But please, just post up your amazing find and improvement when you find it! You remind me of myself when I was 18 with my first car, a commowhore. I was constantly trying to make more power from fiddling I got nowhere, f$&ked things up and had to give the car away....but who cares, it was a Holden.

Your doing this to an already over engineered sports car, wtf are you doing all this to zed for :( you lost me at trying to put a under engineered Holden 6 in there, now I'm well and truly not a fan..... Oh well it feeds the spare parts market.....that's is if there is anything untouched

Well, I don't think anyone who's interested in the ecu would poke fun at you, but I'm not sure it would be of much benefit. I'd think that the only thing of real interest in the ECU is the EPROM programme for engine management, and that's already fairly well researched. The rest is pretty much a control system to monitor electrical signals and switch things on and off. I'm not sure how many people would want to alter what the ecu does in that respect. There are a few sensible electrical mods that can be done external to the ecu. Firing up the aux fan when the A/C is switched on is a good one, as is the old trick of firing up the A/C compressor when reverse gear is selected, which makes the compressor operate for short periods even in winter - this circulates the lubricant in the A/C gas, and keeps things moving.

Personally, I'd be more interested in knowing more about other bits like the time control unit and the A/C computer.

Now, if you could design a retrofit adjustable steering column, I'd be all ears!! :D That would have to be the biggest omission from the Z32, I reckon.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

The ECU is OLD technology, So old in fact it is obsolete.
It dates back to the mid-80's. What you so bent out of shape about???? What exactly are the outcomes your trying to achieve dude?????

Then why make the thread?? Are you fishing for praise, or want people to beg you to put this stuff up?

I just can't see this being useful information for anyone.

If you want to do something similar and pretty nifty, how about a retrofit of the R34 tiptronic system for a auto TT? Or how to remove that stupid double wipe from the wipers when you turn them on and off. A lot more interesting and useful for a lot of people.

What is it going to tell us???? You seem quite evasive about this...
You cant even figure out how to wire up a simple circuit to pull a relay in when the engine starts yet, you are going to enlighten us on the intricasies of this old ECU clobber......

Indeed, if something goes wrong with them, often for less than 100 bucks, we can have another...........

    Enlighten us.

OK, so completely off topic. Disappointingly, I feel I need to stand up for myself here.

IMO this would be the point of the exercise. I'm not trying to avoid anything.

I haven't even sat down to work it out yet. I simply wanted to get some input beforehand.

I feel terrible having to stand up for myself like this.

I said I wasn't going to post here mainly to get the general consensus.

Any questions feel free to PM.

    Regards

Taz is right dude, your not going to find anything in the ECU the japs or mister Nissan don't already know about.

The only point to your exercise would be to have a handy diagram for repair.
Which is handy, and would be used by members from time to time.

Schematics will be lying around somewhere anyway I'd say.
    Not hacking in any way.

Most or 95% of us on here will never find the need to "repair" or modify the ECU when there are plenty of chips and/or piggyback set ups to boost performance.

Sorry it's a waste of time
