Does anyone have an opinion on these ebay gauges, are they cheap ebay rubbish or good value? I'm looking at the digital boost, digital water temp and digital oil pressure gauges from this seller. Yay or Nay? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120587341049&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:AU:1123 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/12v-Digital-...=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c139c6382 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/12v-Digital-...=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c1382e521
never heard of them, but i will say if you spent double that then you can buy some good quality brnd name gear that definately does work well.... i know what id do.....
You get what you pay for. Don't expect accurate, reliable performance from cheap ebay gauges. If it's for looks rather than function then go ahead.
They look to be not that bad, but they're definitely a look over function gauge. The company that makes them and uses those display boxes make other cheaper gauges as well, to which ive used on and off over the years. Honestly, they're not that much chop. Oil pressure gauge, worked perfect for maybe a month, after that, its buggered. The senders fail and give inaccurate readings. The boost gauges. Well the electric ones didnt work. Only the pressure gauges that plumb up actually worked, but not at full vacuum. If anything, buy one, sample it, and if you feel its working well, by all means buy the others you want. But the age old saying is true, you get what you pay for. If you go ahead with them, do us a favor and review them. Im interested. Cheers.
I asked a similar question a while ago and this was one of the only positive repplies.http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1057144#poststop. There is always a risk with the cheaper gauges, but there are often new products that become available that are fine. So cheaper are higher risk so I think the previous advice was good......buy one and see how it goes. If all is good after a few months get the others. I just found that it is common place for people who have spent alot of money on certain products to poohoo cheaper alternatives when they really don't know about specific brands. I had cheap gauges in my previous Z and they were still working great after 5 years.
i thought the gauges dont really matter.. its the sender units that are crap.. i did a little research a while back they say that if you do buy these gauges and what a quality outcome.. get better sender units.
it depends. if its water temp/oil temp/oil pressure, get good accurate one. if its volt/vaccum/tacho etc not so important data, get cheapies not matter. btw i am using cheap ebay boost gauge, it is alright tho. (my ebc has boost display, it shows the gauge is ok)
Thanks for your input guys, Ill keep having a look over the weekend, i was told to go with the PLX gauges from the us, great sensors and all but yeh 200us each which i dont really feel like spending my money on at the moment
