Had my first run at Eastern creek today, along with JP in the slot car and Wokburner (don't tell Mary) in his Blue Zed and the Skyline boys. Only completed two session because the rain came along and spoiled the fun. turned a best lap of 1.57.68, they tell me anything under 2mins is good, probably would have got faster with more dry track time. Very fast circuit, doing 220+ before peeling off into the first corner. Lots there competing, three classes, Race cars, L2s licence holders, and Bikes. Track got very greasy with the rain and a car splitting a oil cooler and dumping it on the track, that was enough for me to pack it up for another day, but Matty and JP kept going around if not a lot sideways. good fun, bring on the next one. Very good time Ron, smacking the liners. There were quite a few interested spectators when you popped your bonnet and revealed the bling! I snuck down for a cameo, but it seemed I also brought the rain. Frustrating not having a thrash.
The Creek Thats was a blast today even when it got wet and then it got even worse when that Calibra thing emptied its stomach contents all the way around the track. We called it the slippery rainbow, till of all people a WRX driver came in and had a sook about how slippery it was. We were all looking for a line off the shit but you still have to cross it. LOL he wasnt in my Zed or the Slot Car. LOL it was the only time I will pass John in the slot car on the race track. 400+rwkw and full slicks = lots of sideways. I wish I had a camera for that session it was like a ballet with JP, myself and all the Skyline boys piroeting all over the shop. Its was worth the $120 just for the fun of sliding around in the wet. Beats driver training and I even got to pass a GTR in the wet - LOL. I got asked by the officials if I was drifting, my reply " LOL not intentionly mate". Dont know my times but the guy in the GTR I was playing with was talking about low 1.50's in that dry session so next time I'll have to get a timer. Where were you Caz! PS Ron I spilt my guts to Mary when I got home - LOL she would seen through me anyway, and knew I had alterior reasons for not going to work. Plus having the Semi Slicks on the car and helmuts in the back was a give away. Just cant tell work. Hope your gearbox is OK. MattB
Bummer about the weather guys. Wish I could have come along to watch as I love to watch Skylines being passed by Zeds, but had to work and mo LS2 yet. Also Miracle Z motors was correct again in the oild leak diagnosis, 'twas the PCV hose on the left side. All fixed now also the HICAS leak so I can't wait join you guys on the track again cheers Geoff
Calibra Yep made by holden,Turbo front wheel drive from memory. Not much Calibra left on this one, doors, roof maybe all the rest hand built, really well done. Yep step out onto the track and the bug will bite you, and you just have to keep comming back for more. Glad to hear problems were not to serious Geoff.
