That is a great idea, I will go and see what I can find as soon as I get some spare time.

    Hmmm.

I may have stumbled upon a problem there...

Mine were the platinum plugs, and lasted 80,000kms and were installed in mid 2003. They should easily last 100,000 but in my opinion a combination of sporadic car use the past few years and a fairly serious overheat last January caused one of them to prematurely end their life.

But don't rule them out as a possible cause of your issues unless they are quite new!

They are new enough that I would consider it unlikely. They are about 3000kms old and if the service record I got with the car is accurate the previous ones laster 95000kms before the CTS went on me and they got killed by the car running way too rich to compensate.

I might pull them out and have a look when I get some time anyway. I have never done it before and it is probably a useful thing to learn.

3000k old would mean they are unlikely to be the cause then (unless the issue occurred when they were changed in :p )

Or one of them was just dodgey out of the box.

Or any number of other things that could possibly go wrong that I have never heard of.

I will have a go at taking them out and having a look when I have some time.

Even in the (likely) case that they are fine it will be something else I have learnt how to do. :)

    More things to check!

Leaking intake pipes or other hoses, how about the connectors on the IAAV. I had similar issue and it turned out to be a leaking hose on the intake side between the engine and the afm.

    Thanks.

I am putting together a nice list of things to do when I get some time, hopefully next weekend.

I figure given the age of the car, anything I check up on and replace will be useful even if it is not the cause of my current problem.
