    Hey Guys,

Today my high pressure PS hose busted. Have ordered a new one, but my dilemma is on Wednesday, I need to drive from from Whyalla to Adelaide to catch a plane, and then the following tuesday, back to whyalla. Approxmiately 400kms each way.

I was thinking of taking off the ps belt and driving it the way it is. But is this not recommended? I understand steering will be heavy at low speeds.

    Whats everyones opinion on this?

    Cheers,
    Adz

Have you thought about doing it and taking it for a test drive to see if you can manage it?

Depends if you have toothpicks or man arms?

That means finding the motivation to go do it lol.

I was more worried about highway speeds. I used to drive a hq with strong arm steering :)

At speed you'll be fine, will be a bit of a bugger at very low speeds like in and out of tight parking spots but won't be impossible.

PS isn't any assistance at high speeds. Only slow speeds you need to worry about.

Maybe if you tell us how strong your arms are. We can then calculate your route for you, the number of turns and figure out if its possible for your muscles to endure the drive?

So we need to know the route and the specific energy output and endurance of your arms. Stock steering wheel diameter? And the size and weight of the front wheels.

We will have a crack team of mathematic monkeys on standby ready to come up with an answer you can read.

You should be fine by just disconnecting the belt, but just keep reminding yourself that if you have to slow down or brake suddenly, your steering will get heavy really quickly. Both hands on the wheel in traffic, I reckon.

If you used to drive an HQ, then it may bring back fond memories ;)
