The outer CV joint on my car needs replacing. I have been told that there is no aftermarket replacement. Reconditioning involves grinding out the cup and installing oversized balls. Just wandering if anyone knows if this is a satisfactory repair method. If the cup is only surface hardened then the reconditioned joint will wear out quickly... Anyone had this done? Thanks.
If that is the advice given to you by the reconditioner, then I would accept it gracefully. I seriously doubt that a reputable specialist business would advise you to undertake a dodgy repair, given that if it fails you're going to become "a pain in the ass" to them. Sometimes you just have to believe the advice you receive.
