As part of the effort to track down the mysterious and annoying vibration my car is currently manifesting, I am replacing virtually all of the rotating parts of the car (still reckon it's the drive-shaft - that's next (Hello, one-piece)). To this end, I visited Rik (Roi) at BJ T-Mart Box Hill this morning, and came home with the car looking like this. RJR Lightnings and Maxxis MA-Z1 all round, only 17's tho, didn't want to go over the top! I was up for a couple of new tyres anyway, and threw in the wheels as an early Father's Day present to myself. Very happy with the deal, but changing the wheels didn't do anything for the bad vibes. Now I've just gotta wash her and she'll look great even if the ride is still somewhat disconcerting. And I must locate some brake caliper paint, too!
Looks hot, very familiar design...amazing how four little things can change the look of the car! Maybe the 1-piece can be an early christmas present
Looking good Doug ...Could barely recognise the zed ... Im with you..change to a 1-piece..I was surprised by all the tiny noises that disappeared with my zed when I did that ..ohh and let's not forget the MASSIVE vibration
Yeah, Andrew, even though they are not the same as the wheels you had on your car, they are similar, and I liked the way your car looked
That's pretty much the only thing left to change even tho it's been off the car and rebalanced three times. If the Vibe is still there, I'll have to bite the bullet and replace the torque converter, 'cause that's the only other possibility. PS: When are we gonna see an 11?
I've sold me wheels now (being sent off on sunday) so I'm in the maarket again for wheels, the more I look the more I keep coming back to my 'old' wheels! The ONLY other designs I've liked go from the $2000 range and jump straight to $4,000-5,000!!!! Thought I had a winner at the start of the week, but after being told they come in silver, I found out they ONLY come in shadow chrome! Can't beat silver on a red zed! Watch this space Cheers, Andrew
As part of the FANTASTIC service by Rik, he offered to throw the OEM wheels and tyres in the BJ work ute, and deliver them to my door this evening. It helps that he lives only a few K's away, but, what a guy! Otherwise, I would have had to fold the rear seat and carry those dirty Mothers in the back of my nice clean (inside, anyway) car.
damn impulse spenders .. the economy loves you, i hate you ... (picked up 3 free stockies today ..lol..!!) .. looks tops, doug ..!!! .. no doubt about roi, he is the tyres/wheels boi ..!!!
Not an "impulse" spend, Barry... something I always intended to do, brought forward because of this damn vibration. Now I've got 4 stockies for sale... 2xGoodgear F1 Eagles with 80% tread, and 2xDunlop SP 3000A worn to about 30% on the inside (maybe I should invest in some rear camber arms)... see FS section later. (Waiting for Rik to bring 'em home so I can take and post some piccies... Jeez, he's slack! )
know what you mean, unca doug .. am thinking about my need for front adjustable camber arms.. got a bad case of the 'ol inside scrub ...!!! .. might have to scramble EGG or get AMEC on board as a sponsor ..!!! lol..!!!
IT sounds better when you don't let them in on the secret that i live close by! this is what else we have done today 20" chrome tremors. i likey furry munch
