That looks like an unnecessary complication to me. The sump plug isn't exactly rocket science to undo. And that spring loaded lever looks as though it could get caught and inadvertantly empty your sump. Love the bit where it says 'No more dirty hands' - wonder how they plan on removing the filter?
Was actually thinking of buying one. looks like a good idea to me. You'd just have to orient the lever so that its not likely to snag on anything whilst you're driving. also, here's an australian distributor: http://www.fumoto.com.au
i didn't say it was hard, just easier and cleaner. the leaver is spring preloaded and the company that makes them has got a contract with major japane car manufacturers including nissan. i fail to see how it would "get caught and inadvertantly empty your sump". From the website "The Engine Oil Drain Valve has been tested and granted "Genuine Parts" status by 5 major motor vehicle manufacturers in Japan, including Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Isuzu. These approvals were not granted easily and gaining them was a testimony to the quality and durability of Engine Oil Drain Valve. In the United States, the Engine Oil Drain Valve is being installed at the factory level on some of the vehicles made by Ford and Freightliner." The fact that all those manufacturers have tested and decided to use this product speaks for it self.
are you associated with these guys? if so this thread should be in for sale by buinesses.. you seem mighty offensive
i'm not associated with them in any way . sorry if i seemed offencive, wasn't meant like that at all. i just think it's a great product that makes cahnging oil quicker and easier.
I for one am definately gunna buy one i reckon. I know that the argument that it may snag and then drain holds some merit, however i'd be inclined to think that that possibility is rather remote. after all, i've never grounded out my sump on anything, so i'd be skeptical about objects leaping up and engaging my drain valve. My car is at stock height, and whilst the valve is taller than the drain bolt, i doubt it'd be a substantial difference. Besides, if you're really worried about having the lever moved accidentally, then just drill a couple of holes into the lever and valve body and lock-wire it tight. should do the trick. Anyways, i'm going to look into buying one soon, as i'm due for an oil change anyway. i'll let you guys know how it goes when i do it.
:LOL:Now that we have the lever wired up how is this going to make this easier to drain your oil:LOL::LOL: It's just a 14mm bolt that's being replaced. If you really feel it will be an improvement then go for it. Seems an awful lot of overkill for something so simple to me though:wacko:
Oil drain Had a similar thing fitted to my aeroplane, but only to reduce the amount of work in cowl removal/ replacement. The Zed's easy enough:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
lol, sidecutters are a magical tool.... nah seriously, i love gimmicky gadget things. it'll be cool, trust me
