First run down the 1/4mile today, only managed a 14.430 but im sure this could be greatly improved if i learnt to launch. My best reaction time being about .56s and i struggled most of the day to find that sweet spot between a hard launch and traction.

My best burnout, which i had to abort as the officials were worried about rubbish on the track.

That is my 14.430s. My worst time for the day was a 17.xxx but we wont go into detail about that one. Suffice it to say that I managed to neither have traction or a hard launch and my reaction time was about 1.8s...

Chrome 17s up back with stock 16s up front? I hear you ask. Well its a long story, more or less i usually have stock 16s but got a lend of some just about to die 17 chromies to use for the day so as not to 'waste' my good tyres.

I had no idea it would be so good. I am still high on adrenalin and I finished racing 7 hours ago :|

Sitting there waiting to stage was the most nervous I think I have ever been. Then I finally got off to a super fast 15.5xx (what traction?) After that it was all good. I was dissapointed i couldnt get a decent launch as i think it would be good for about a 14.2.

The thing I loved about it the most was I went out and destroyed V8 commos all day (including a newish LS1 ute) then got destroyed by a couple of N13 pulsars :)

Ain't it just the greatest fun?

Did my first drag meet a couple of months ago, and the memories still bring a smirk to my face. Go the Red Zed.

    Next time you'll get at 13 ;)

Well I hope that's what I'm going to do anyway. Did my first run a week ago, in the night so getting any decent photo's was pointless. How did you fins your shift from second to third? Must have been my biggest let down as the XR8 I was racing I could hold until I had to shift into third. Have been getting heaps of advice from forum members lately of a valve body mod to make the shifts heaps more crisp and firm. Hopefully I can find someone here in Townsville that knows what they are doing. Is your car stock? Mine was at the time and run a 14.46 sec. Next time I run will have remapped ECU, 14PSI and maybe the valve body mod.

ZedFest Easter 2006; Bring it on!!!

Re: Next time you'll get at 13 ;)

Hahaha, well my car is pretty much stock except for what I have now decided is a twin 2.75inch cat-back zaust. When i first got the car it looked to me like twin 3inch but I had a good look the other day and it isnt that big.

The shift from second to third was a bitch, much too slow. I was starting with the car in 2nd tho and was manually pushing it into drive at redline in second gear. I managed to almost kill an engine at one stage when i went from 2nd straight to neutral :| fortunately no damage was done (not that i could tell anyway).

I am looking for a 13 next time I race, or at least a very low 14 and i reckon my car will be in pretty much the same trim. I was racing with about 30psi in the back tyres and on my fastest run my reaction was almost 1sec. If i couldve had my best run and my best reaction at the same time i wouldve had a 14.055 and the lane i was in at the time had no VHT as it was only a pre-season test type event.

I was driving back from Launceston on Saturday morning...

Past a lot of drag cars on trailers, and nice streetcars making their way up to the drags!
I was a little pissed off, if I knew there was a meet on I would have stopped by.
Mind you, I was extremely hangover. Maybe it's good thing I didn't know ;)

Re: I was driving back from Launceston on Saturday morning...

Haha, I was going to post on here that it was on. But got a bit busy with preparations and forgot all about it, I will give you some warning the first official round is on 3rd sept and i have every intention of being there, so feel free to come and watch me lose to a bunch of N13 pulsars again...

hahaha, i dont know, tarmak is still a 2hr drive for me?

it was good fun. got 7 runs in 4 hours, couldve had 8 but after my third run i decided to let the zed have a break. the only thing i didnlt like was the fact i couldve got about twice as many runs in if they hadnt of had bikes on the same day. i mean who really wants to see some bloke on a kawasaki ninja pull a 10.xxx on the back wheel most of the way with only one foot on the pedal?

Re: Awsome! Looks like u had a sweet day! Nice Pics. How do get to enter in

to enter you can either get a entry form off teir website, www.tarmakdragway.net or you can enter on the day - i think if you pre-enter you get a bonus 2 points for the round. all you need is a helmet, long sleeve shirt and long trousers. the site says you also need to have your radiator overflow run into a bottle, i was told you could also just tie it off but when i went to get me car checked the guy had a look in the engine bay had a bit of a whinge about there being no room. grabbed the radiator overflow pipe (i dont think he had any idea where it went) put it back and passed my car. i think you also need steel tyre valve caps, not actual valves, just the caps. i had these but it wasnt checked. i think normally the cost is about $45 but as saturday was only a 'test and tune' it only cost me $40

however i have since been told that because i ran quicker than a 14.5xx i will be put into the 'super street' category instead of just plain old 'street' im not sure if this is true or even what the difference is. means i will be racing against 12sec cars or soemthing but it is all dial your own time anyway so i cant much see the point.
