Hi All, I have no real ideas yet on where and when for the Doug Cruise. Please want some feedback/ideas about times and places. and to fit in with Doug. Zedi KnightZ mentioned about a rego kitty. I will donate $100 to get the ball rolling. now i'm waiting to hear back from Lloyd for further details. i think it would be nice to put a little in to get his car registered so he can be in his baby while on cruise. All money's and transactions can be done through Chili/Lloyd - Bill p.s. Aus300zx make a wish to help a fellow Zedder after a few days can this be moved in the correct area so more people can see. in "Coming Events" so people looking at other cruise post with Doug can see this also.
suggested route I suggest the following route as it starts and finishes in Woodcroft, and is 2 hours duration ... plus a nice twisty hill climb for the special guest.
If anyone who does not know Chili or prefer to get someone else to handle the account i think Greg/Pexzed could do it as he has done before. @ Greg/Pexzed do yo mind doing it again ? -Bill
Whilst I appreciate that this is a heartfelt response to our visit with Doug & family, I do believe that it may be somewhat premature for a number of reasons. We do not know if Doug is able to sustain any sort of journey(how ever short)nor the special requirements that he may need to be able to undertake such a cruise. No matter how well meaning we may be this is something that may not be advisable or possible due to Doug's physical constraints. I will speak to Des and see how the family feel about any such proposed outing. Thanks to everyone for being so compassionate toward Doug and his situation. Lynn & I were immensely proud to be part of the group of special people who visited Doug yesterday.:zlove::zlove:
You guys are just too amazing! (Please see our thank-you in the "post cruise meeting" thread.) I mentioned to Dad that you were hoping to organise a cruise in his honour and he was ecstatic at the idea. It's hard to say whether he will be able to participate as his condition changes quickly (bad day today) but we can safely say that if he is at all able then he's IN with a grin!! His car does actually have rego. Thank you all so much for your incredible thoughtfulness.
Excuse my ignorance, but who is doug? Seems to be alot of support for him. I am a noob compared to alot of other long term members. Maybe for us noobs, you could give us a bit of background.

Embarressed? unlikely. I read the other thread and thought "nice work guys, doug must be an old member" With no mention of the persons name in the above link you posted, it was a simple and fair question. You retort was not required. A simple answer would have been enough, without the under lying sarcasm.
Dugster is my Dad. He has aggressive terminal neck cancer. He is a fellow Zed owner/lover, but hasn't been a forum member. My husband came here looking for help with making my Dad's day. He found a very willing group of extraordinary people and my Dad was overwhelmed with joy and gratitude.
There was no sarcasm in my response to your untimely question mate(suffice to say that you are the only one who was unable to understand the details already posted on this forum). None of us knew Dugster(or his family)before a few days ago, but that has all changed now(and for the foreseeable future). He is and will remain "one of us" until he chooses not to be(just the same as you).:zlove::zlove:
I worked with Doug for almost 30 years at TAA/Australian Airlines. He is a Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. I retired 10 years ago and did not realize Doug was a ZX man until I heard Doug was not well, I phoned him and swapped photos of our cars. With my double connection with Doug through work and our 300Zxs, we hope to join the Doug cruise when you can arrange it, Noel D.
Thanks for the background Noel. You will obviously be most welcome to join in any cruise for Doug(or any other cruise for that matter). I imagine your presence will be an enormous thrill for Doug(and indirectly for the rest of us as well).:zlove::zlove:
