Does this Sound like Boost Leak?

Ok, so I don't have a recording, but I'll describe the sound to you..

The car makes an Owl style Hooting sound at a certain Rev Range in First, when I'm accelerating.. Not sure which rev range, and I haven't been assed looking at the Tacho while accelerating yet..

Also, I'm not sure if this is a normal sound with Turbo cars, but I can hear a Hissing sound when I accelerate onto boost in 2nd or 3rd.. But this hissing sound could possibly be a sucking sound? I dunno..

Does that sound like Boost leak to you?

I'm about to go and get the bits for a Boost leak testing tool thingy, but I thought i'd ask anyway..

no that is the notorious "goose honk" which is caused by your recirc valves. it isn't a bad thing

the sucking sound could be the pod filter, couldn't it???? lol im trying to imagine you sitting at your computer going 'hoot hoot.... hoot hoot' :D :D open the bonnet and do the boost leek tester thing and listen very carefully to any hissing sounds

Will it goose honk with BOVs?

Well if it was like my car when I got it. Yes, someone put on 2 ATMO bov's and left the stock recirc's hooked up.

So if the noise is Goose Honk, and I have BOVs, I can remove the Recircs?

BTW, is this under EGR in tech? (maybe not..)

if you have bov's then you might aswell remove the recircs

and nope it has nothing to do with your egr :)

Yep block off the recirc valves if you have BOV's installed else where. That goosehonk is the recirc valves letting pressurized air out while your boosting.

Problem with ATMO bov's is that the car can stall out when you let off the throttle. When I pulled my recirc valves the car would sometimes stall when I let off the throttle and put it out of gear. As soon as I changed the ATMO's to recirc bov's the problem went away.

Is there anyway to tell the difference between (I'm Assuming ATMO means) Atmospheric and Recirc BOVs?

Yep. ATMO when they vent the boost pressure just does it to atmosphere, so there is either a horn on it or just an open hole. A recirc allows you to pipe the vented pressure back into the pipe before the turbos.
