    Hey Guys,
Just got the zed back on the road after doing the headgasket and all have been well with it other then some hesitation at light revs that I haven't been too happy about.
Last night I ran out of fuel (thanks Idials) and then got it to the petrol station after filling it up via a petrol can. Upon trying to start the car again it won't start properly without revving the crap out of it. It won't rev hard at all, it's blowing black smoke out the back and everything. So what's the problem with her? Tank is filled to half way with Optimax. Car can't be moved coz she won't even idle properly let alone rev...
Some help would be very appreciated as I've had nothing but trouble with her and it's starting to get to me...

    Thanks,
    John

    sorry to hear

if its any consolation I just installed my new timer and was about to go out and test it. I took the car out of the driveway and smoke came out of the right hand exhaust everywhere. I had it jacked up and that must have caused it somehow as it did not blow anymore after that. Even at full noise. However after a 2 minute blat I pulled up in the driveway only to find that the 2 little water pipes near the thermostat are pissing out coolant. So in a nutshell I don't think the problems ever stop. But hey in the end remember that these cars are the coolest thing to own next to a fazza or a lambo and at a awesome price. So for the price I have, and always will be in love with these babies!!!!

Cra-Z-Boy no nissan at all :(

sounds like crap from the bottom of the tank has blocked the injectors

and Ecu is trying to correct the problem with uping the fuel flow

    Change fuel filter asap.

Its unlikely to be crap in the tank affecting the injectors as thats

what a fuel filter is sposed to prevent.

I think it could be as Zisluv suggests ... the fuel pump may be having problems as it may have sucked up some crap and partly blocked an artery.

However it could be something simple like air in the fuel system which may take some getting out.

I would disconnect the fuel line that comes off the fuel filter and see if it has a preload of fuel in it as it should remain pressurised with 36 psi for some time. Make sure you have a can to drain it into and a fire extinguisher nearby or a wool blanket just in case you get a fire.

After that reconnect it and crank it again and remove the line and drain, Initially when you crank the engine the ECU will run the pump momentarily to pressurise the system and turn it off again until the engine starts. So if you keep draining the system eventually you will purge the system of air and then it should run properly.......IMHO

    regards John

    Start with an ecu....

...error code check, it might give some idea of the problem.
Try pulling some spark plugs and checking them, running out of fuel might have managed to stuff them.
I think a check of the fuel pressure could be an idea, the pump may have overheated and died

If the pump is dead then there should be no fuel pressure at all

    that's right...

I'm going to change the fuel filter on monday and see if that works, also will run an ecu diagnostic and see how that goes. If the fuel filter is clogged up as all hell then it would explain the fact that it isn't letting enough fuel get past...
